Taylor Swift will cheer for her boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs to win Super Bowl 59 against her hometown team, the Philadelphia Eagles, at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday, Feb. 9. The Chiefs will have the mega icon’s unwavering support this year, but was it always the case?
Let’s examine whether Swift was always in love with Kansas City or if the Eagles ruled her heart before the Chiefs TE took over.
Was Taylor Swift an Eagles Fan?
Swift has been a lifelong NFL fan. She was born and brought up in West Reading, Penn. Being a Pennsylvania native, Swift supported her boyfriend’s brother Jason Kelce’s team until she started dating the reigning Super Bowl champions’ star tight end.
The 14-time Grammy winner’s connection to Kansas City has been well-documented throughout the last two seasons, thanks to her relationship with the Chiefs tight end. However, before she became a regular at Arrowhead Stadium, she was known as an Eagles fan.

Swift even mentioned the franchise in the song “Gold Rush” to show her love for the franchise.
“I see me padding across your wooden floors/with my Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door,” the lyrics read.
It sparked a debate among the fans about whether the singer was referring to the band or the NFL team. So, when Swift’s “The Eras Tour” reached Lincoln Financial Field, “The Tortured Poets Department” singer cleared the air.
“There was a sort of a — I don’t know how large the debate was — but I did see the debate about, I have a lyric that says ‘With my Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door.’ And I saw some people wondering if it was the band Eagles or the team Eagles. And I love the band Eagles, but, guys, come on, I’m from Philly, of course, it’s the team,” Swift clarified.

However, Swift’s loyalty has shifted to the Chiefs after dating Kelce. She celebrated last season’s AFC Championship and the Super Bowl win with her boyfriend.
The Chiefs have been invincible this season with Swift in the stands (9-0 record). The couple has already recreated the previous season’s AFC Championship celebration, and they would love to replicate the Super Bowl 58 celebration yet again in New Orleans for Super Bowl 59.
Eagles running back Saquon Barkley is hoping to use that history to his advantage, calling on Swift and her massive fanbase — the Swifties — to switch sides and back Philadelphia as it chases its second Lombardi Trophy.
“She was an Eagles fan her whole life,” Barkley said ahead of Super Bowl 59. “I think the Swifties should come to our side.”
The Chiefs can become the first team to complete a three-peat in the Super Bowl era if they win the season finale against the Eagles on Sunday, Feb. 9.
