Wan’Dale Robinson Fantasy Waiver Wire: Should I Pick Up the Giants WR This Week?

The New York Giants‘ passing game hasn’t given fantasy football managers much to get excited about throughout the 2023 NFL season. But one performance on Monday Night Football should have your attention heading into the fantasy playoffs.

Should Giants WR Wan’Dale Robinson be a priority add on the waiver wire heading into Week 15?

Should Wan’Dale Robinson Be a Fantasy Waiver Wire Add in Week 15?

It was around this time last year when Robinson really started to hit his stride during his rookie campaign in an ascending New York offense. Unfortunately, a torn ACL back in Week 11 of last season ended a career day — nine receptions for 100 yards — on a somber note.

Robinson missed the first two games of the 2023 season while still working his way back from a devastating knee injury, but he has been a fairly consistent producer in one of the worst passing offenses this year.

His best outing this season came back in Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills, where Robinson registered eight receptions for 62 yards with backup QB Tyrod Taylor under center.

Despite missing the first two games of the season, Robinson entered Week 14 tied for the most receptions on the team with Darren Waller at 36 each. The yards haven’t been too plentiful because of Robinson’s slot role in this offense more focusing on underneath routes, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a capable playmaker with the ball in his hands.

In fact, the Giants made it a point to manufacture some carries for Robinson against the Green Bay Packers in Week 14, which he managed to produce 36 rushing yards on just two carries.

That wasn’t all he did against the Packers though, as the second-year wideout caught six of his seven targets for 79 yards, which included a crucial 32-yard reception on the team’s game-winning drive on a beautiful corner route from the slot.

While QB Tommy DeVito hasn’t been playing at an All-Pro level, he has certainly been better than most people expected over his last two games. During that span, DeVito has connected with Robinson on 10 occasions, which has established Robinson as one of DeVito’s favorite go-to options in the passing game.

Need more proof? No other Giants pass catcher caught more than three passes or produced more than 22 yards outside of Robinson on the night. Unfortunately for the few who did start Robinson in fantasy, Isaiah Hodgins was the Giants WR who found the end zone in Week 14.

Robinson has just one touchdown on the season, which can largely be attributed to some of the struggles and growing pains from DeVito under center this season. We also should keep in mind that Robinson is barely a calendar year removed from suffering a significant knee injury and may just be starting to get fully healthy.

The case for Robinson continuing to see his role expand is because of the lack of other reliable options in this passing game. Jalin Hyatt is still more of a talented, yet raw, prospect at this point in his rookie campaign, Darren Waller hasn’t been the dominant force he was during his days as a member of the Raiders, and Darius Slayton’s fantasy breakout days are well behind him.

Robinson’s overall involvement certainly makes him worth a waiver wire claim in your fantasy league. I strongly prefer him in full-PPR formats, where his floor is raised significantly by his consistent target volume.

However, I would still exercise some serious caution putting him into your fantasy starting lineup with your season on the line in a playoff matchup. Unless you are desperate for a Flex player in your starting lineup this week in a deep full-PPR league, I have Robinson more of add-and-stash fantasy option in Week 15 that’s worth a 5% FAAB bid.
