Viral Stat Highlights Aaron Rodgers’ Potential in 2025 Despite Best Efforts of ‘Propaganda Hate Machine’

A recent post comparing Aaron Rodgers’ touchdown-to-interception ratio to that of other NFL quarterbacks in 2024 has gone viral. The post suggests that the “propaganda hate machine” is unfairly focused on Rodgers.

How Did Aaron Rodgers Compare to Other QBs in 2024?

While statistics can lack context, the viral post points out that Rodgers threw more touchdowns than Patrick Mahomes, Jordan Love, Jayden Daniels, Kyler Murray, C.J. Stroud, Brock Purdy, Matthew Stafford, and Tua Tagovailoa. The post also notes that, of those eight quarterbacks, only Daniels, Stafford, and Tagovailoa threw fewer interceptions.

Comments on the post are mixed, with many pointing out the lack of context around the stats. For example, you could argue that the New York Jets often played from behind, leading to higher passing volume. Rodgers tied for the seventh-most passing touchdowns in 2024 but ranked 12th in touchdown percentage, below Daniels and Love, and tied with Tagovailoa.

Statistics can often be used to support different arguments. But claiming that the former Green Bay Packer is no longer a good quarterback would be questionable. Throwing 28 touchdowns coming off an Achilles injury is impressive, but teams may be more hesitant because of the drama that surrounds him.

Other quarterbacks with fewer touchdowns per game include Justin Fields, Geno Smith, and Daniel Jones. Rodgers outperformed all three statistically last season, yet teams have prioritized them over him this offseason.

Rodgers is still one of the most talented passers in the league, but many coaches don’t want to deal with the distractions he brings.

    Steelers, Giants Interested in Rodgers

After the Las Vegas Raiders, Seattle Seahawks, Indianapolis Colts, and Jets all decided to look elsewhere, the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers now appear to battling for Rodgers.

The Steelers could also bring back Russell Wilson for 2025 after he led them to the playoffs last season. Wilson’s first year in Pittsburgh started strong but ended poorly with five straight losses. However, the fact that they haven’t yet offered Wilson a deal may suggest the team prefers Rodgers, who defeated them in Super Bowl 45.

The Giants can’t offer the contender status that the Steelers can. Despite the electric talent of 2024 rookie Malik Nabers, New York is expected to finish at the bottom of the NFC East again in 2025. At 41, Rodgers would likely have more control in New York, whereas Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is far less likely to tolerate the veteran’s more controversial antics.

It’s possible Rodgers receives offers from both teams. While money will play a role, his decision will reveal what he values at this stage of his career. If Rodgers wants more control, he’ll join the Giants. If he wants another Super Bowl shot, the Steelers are the better option.

A determined Rodgers throwing to George Pickens and DK Metcalf would instantly make Pittsburgh a strong AFC contender. Meanwhile, a year of Rodgers running the show in New York could spell the end for Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen. Depending on who you ask, that could be exciting (or terrifying) for both fan bases.
