Minnesota Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy has had a rough year. Reports are more than likely who was going to be the presumptive starter for the Vikings before a knee injury cost him the 2024 season.
However, it at least appears that he has something positive in his life — his fiancée Katya Kuropas, who sent her man a heartfelt message on his birthday.
Who Is Katya Kuropas?
Kuropas sent McCarthy this beautiful message on social media for his birthday on Jan. 20, 2025.
“Happy birthday to my most favorite person in the world. I love you to the moon & stars.”

Kuropas and McCarthy were together for five years before he proposed to her.
According to People magazine, McCarthy and Kuropas started dating on Oct. 8, 2018, when he was a sophomore in high school. Although he changed high schools — he transferred from Nazareth Academy to IMG Academy due to the cancellation of the football season at Nazareth during the COVID-19 pandemic — the two remain together.
McCarthy has also expressed his love for his wife-to-be on social media. On their second anniversary, he posted this on social media:
“They say, once a man finds the right woman for him, he can accomplish anything,” he wrote in the caption. “I am blessed and thankful for finding the right one for me at such a young age. Honored to have spent 2 years of my life with the woman of my dreams, and excited for the years to come.”
On their third anniversary, he posted:
“3 trips around the sun with the love of my life,” he wrote in the caption. “I honestly do not even know where I would be without this girl in my life. I simply do not deserve her because of the kind of woman she is. The pureness in her heart and soul is just one the many qualities that make this girl so incredible.”
On their fifth anniversary, he posted another loving tribute to his lady love.
“1,825 days with the love of my life but a million moments that will be remembered and cherished for the rest of my life,” he wrote. “I couldn’t be more grateful for who you are and everything you do! You make me the best version of myself and it has been a complete blessing to continually watch you grow into the amazing woman you are.”
And finally, in Jan. 2024, he made it official by proposing to her. The pair made the announcement with a simple message on Instagram:
“Me, You & Marley Forever & Ever.
