Vikings-Packers Injury Report Updates: The Latest on Jordan Love, Sam Darnold, and Jordan Addison

    Published on

Several stars are on the injury report for the Vikings and Packers as they prepare for Sunday's showdown. Who will play and who won’t? Here’s the latest.

Two important Jordans are on the injury report this week for the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers. The good news is both are trending in a positive direction.

Packers quarterback Jordan Love is trying to return from a sprained MCL sustained in Week 1, and Vikings’ wide receiver Jordan Addison is trying to return from a sprained ankle, also sustained in Week 1.

Here’s the latest on their injuries as well as updates on other key players on the injury report for both teams.

Will Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Play on Sunday Versus the Vikings?

On Wednesday, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Love was making progress in his recovery from the sprained knee that has sidelined him since the end of the season-opening loss to Philadelphia. On Thursday, Love was listed as a limited participant in practice, a positive indication that progress has continued.

Close scrutiny of details will continue as the NFL-following world waits to see if Love will return to action this week against the division rival Vikings. As an example, it was noted in this report on Thursday that, while Love was listed as a limited participant in both Wednesday’s and Thursday’s practices, he was more involved with other starters on Wednesday than he was on Thursday.

Is that an indication that Love is ramping up to playing but is still a week out? Or is this part of the plan the Packers have in place to get Love back in game action by this Sunday? No one outside the Packers’ building knows for certain.

The next significant indicator of Love’s chances of playing will be presented on Friday when Green Bay must give its starting quarterback a game status designation.

As for other players on the Packers’ injury report, things are looking good. The only player not participating in practice this week is reserve offensive lineman Jordan Morgan. All others have been either limited or full participants, including cornerback Jaire Alexander (quad) and defensive lineman Kenny Clark (toe).

Will Vikings Wide Receiver Jordan Addison Play Against the Green Bay Packers?

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell mentioned on Monday that his No. 2 receiver, Addison, has been pushing to play since he injured his ankle at MetLife Stadium in Week 1. The Vikings have been diligent in bringing Addison back, but it seems everyone has their sights set on this Sunday as his return.

Addison was listed as a limited participant again on Thursday as the Vikings held practice for the first time this week in advance of their game against Green Bay on Sunday. Wednesday is typically an on-field practice day for NFL teams, but O’Connell gave his team a lighter day by holding a walk-through as opposed to a normal practice.

The Vikings’ offense has not struggled to score points without Addison in the lineup, but his return will be a welcomed one when it happens. A matchup with Green Bay is good timing, though, because Addison had success against the dark green and gold as a rookie in 2023, collecting 10 receptions for 110 yards and one touchdown in two games.

The Latest on Sam Darnold, Dallas Turner, and Other Key Vikings Dealing with Injuries

Addison is not the only key name to monitor this week when it comes to the Vikings’ injury report. Quarterback Sam Darnold is listed with his knee injury, although he’s been a full participant both days.

Others who are listed but participated in practice include defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard (knee), linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill (knee), tight end Josh Oliver (wrist) and edge rusher Dallas Turner (knee).

Vikings who did not practice on Thursday were center Garrett Bradbury (ankle), left tackle Christian Darrisaw (illness), linebacker Ivan Pace, Jr., and safety Jay Ward (knee).
