UTEP 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Reports

    Elijah Klein, G

Strengths: Strong, durable power-gap lineman with marginal upside. Explosive, fires into blocks, and quickly gets his hands up. Keeps his head on a swivel, works well with linemates, and always looks for someone to hit. Stays square and seals defenders from the action. Nasty and hits multiple defenders on a single play.

Weaknesses: Lacks agility and doesn’t play like a good athlete. Lumbers around the field. Not a leverage blocker.

Overall: Klein is a tough, nasty lineman who must do a much better job playing with leverage to have any chance of making a practice squad this fall.

    Praise Amaewhule, DE

Strengths: Hard-working college pass rusher who breaks down well, plays with leverage, and effectively uses his hands. Displays good movement skills, immediately alters his angle of attack, and is fluid chasing plays laterally. Keeps his feet moving and effectively uses his hands.

Weaknesses: Lacks size and speed. Gets rag-dolled at the line of scrimmage. Displays a minimal burst. Coming off a disappointing season.

Overall: Amaewhule displayed a lot of pass-rushing ability in 2020 and 2021, but he watched his game take a step back last season. He gets the most from his ability and plays over his head, yet he lacks any sort of upside for the next level.
