The 2022 USFL season continues in Week 4, beginning on Friday, May 6, when we’ll see the team of announcers that have graced our screens through the first three weeks. Much like the NFL, the USFL will broadcast across multiple networks.
The duties of hosting games will be shared between FOX and NBC. Let’s take a look at the USFL announcers for both FOX and NBC.
USFL announcers for 2022
With four games each weekend, we will hear the voices of four different play-by-play announcers. The hosting duties will be split between FOX and NBC, so let’s take a look at the roster for both networks.
FOX has not announced any plans for pre-game, halftime, and postgame coverage. Meanwhile, NBC has announced a full roster, including two sideline reporters.
FOX USFL announcers
Curt Menefee | Play-by-play
Menefee is best known as the host of FOX NFL Sunday. However, he is also the preseason play-by-play commentator for the Seattle Seahawks. Menefee was also the play-by-play commentator on FOX for the XFL in 2020.
Joel Klatt | Analyst
Klatt is most commonly seen as the color analyst on the FOX Big Noon Saturday game. He played college football for the Colorado Buffaloes, where he went from a walk-on to a three-year starter with the program. Prior to that, Klatt was a minor league baseball player in the San Diego Padres organization.
Kevin Kugler | Play-by-play
Kugler works both on television and the radio. He is the voice of Sunday Night Football on Westwood One and the lead play-by-play announcer for College Basketball’s Final Four. He also works on the Big Ten Network, calling college football and basketball games.
Mark Sanchez | Analyst
After a successful career at USC, Sanchez was selected fifth overall in the 2009 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. He would spend five years with the Jets and 10 total years in the NFL before retiring. Sanchez has worked on ESPN’s college football coverage but is currently a color analyst for FOX’s NFL coverage.
Brock Huard | Sideline Reporter
Huard was selected out of the University of Washington in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. He spent four seasons with the Seahawks in two separate stints and six years in the NFL in total. He joined FOX’s college football coverage in 2019 and, since 2013, has worked with Menefee announcing Seahawks preseason games.
NBC USFL announcers

Jason Garrett | Analyst
Garrett is best known as the former Dallas Cowboys head coach. Garrett won two Super Bowls as a player for the Cowboys but, despite winning NFL Coach of the Year in 2016, could not lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl in his tenure as coach. Garrett is currently 85-70 across the regular season and playoffs as a head coach.
