New York Giants rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. seemed to be leading the team’s backfield against the Pittsburgh Steelers on “Monday Night Football” in Week 8. Here is the latest on Tracy’s status after suffering multiple injuries against the Steelers.

What Happened to Tyrone Tracy Jr.?

Tracy appeared to suffer a shoulder injury ahead of halftime. While he was initially listed as questionable to return, New York’s rookie running back returned to action at the start of the second half and appeared to be just fine.

Tracy had 20 carries for 145 rushing yards and one touchdown against the Steelers. It appeared as though the Giants were going to rally late in the fourth quarter in Pittsburgh.

Following a two-yard run, Tracy appeared to slam his head on the ground and left the field with New York’s staff. He eventually walked to the Giants’ locker room, as he continues to be evaluated.

Potential Fantasy Fallout From Tracy’s Injury

Tracy has emerged as the top running back in New York despite the Giants signing Devin Singletary to a three-year, $16.5 million contract in free agency. If Tracy is forced to miss any time, Singletary would likely assume the starting role for the Giants once again.

Before Tracy’s emergence in Weeks 5 and 6, Singletary led New York’s backfield and remained a solid option in fantasy football. Singletary’s season-high performance came against the Cleveland Browns in Week 3.

Singletary scored 18.8 points in full-PPR fantasy football leagues; he had 16 rushing attempts for 65 yards and one touchdown. Singletary also added four receptions for 43 yards through the air.

Singletary is worth monitoring if the rookie running back misses any time moving forward.
