Michael Thomas to Miami? Tyreek Hill Makes Viral Pitch to Veteran WR

Tyreek Hill has produced many viral moments across his NFL career and delivered another this week in recruiting free agent WR Michael Thomas.

Tyreek Hill has produced many viral moments across his NFL career, for both his eye-catching skills on the field and head-turning comments off of it. Hill went viral again Wednesday evening for his recruitment of free agent wide receiver Michael Thomas to join the Miami Dolphins.

Tyreek Hill Pitches Michael Thomas on Joining Miami

Thomas instantly became an intriguing free agent target for plenty of NFL teams Wednesday when he was released by the New Orleans Saints as a post-June 1 cut with a failed physical designation, per multiple reports.

Hill evidently took notice of Thomas hitting the market and made a post to X (formerly known as Twitter), indirectly pitching him on coming to Miami.

“Just throwing this out there Micheal Thomas in Miami would be [holding back tears emoji],” Hill tweeted.

Thomas has put together some highly productive NFL seasons throughout his career, though injuries have also limited him in recent years.

Thomas spent the first eight years of his career with the Saints and made an immediate impact after entering the league in 2016 with three straight years putting up 1,000+ yards. The most productive came in 2019 when he hauled in 149 passes for 1,725 yards and nine touchdowns and was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Year.

It’s been tough sledding for Thomas since then, however, with injuries limiting him to seven games played in 2020, none in 2021, just three games in 2022, and 10 games in 2023.

Still, that track record of production when healthy and even his solid contributions across limited work the last few seasons make Thomas an intriguing free agent option for teams. Thomas’ failed physical designation upon his release could raise some concerns given his injury history, but it may not be an issue if he’s on track to be ready for the season.

Joining the Dolphins would mean slotting in alongside Hill and Jaylen Waddle, a potentially stacked receiving corps, assuming good health.

Thomas was not the only free agent wide receiver that Hill attempted to pitch Wednesday, either. A fake account impersonating Hunter Renfrow quoted Hill’s tweet recruiting Thomas and appeared to throw Renfrow’s name into the mix, an idea Hill seemed amicable to.

“You want me to three way onto a call with me and Mike,” Hill asked in a tweet.

Time will tell whether the Dolphins ultimately add another wide receiver to the mix in free agency, potentially even Thomas.

It’s clear, though, that Hill is trying to do his part in recruiting other talent as Miami looks to take the next step this coming season after some ups and downs in 2023.
