You’ll Never Believe Who Tyreek Hill Says Is 2nd-Fastest Miami Dolphins Player

Tyreek Hill unsurprisingly said he's the Miami Dolphins' fastest player Thursday. Who he called the teams' second fastest, though, raised some eyebrows.

Tyreek Hill reasserted himself as the Miami Dolphins‘ fastest player Thursday when he was asked about running back De’Von Achane’s speed during media availability.

That comment came as no surprise from a player like Hill, who has been widely recognized as one of the fastest players in the league for years and has showcased his speed in track and field events as well. Who the star wide receiver called Miami’s second-fastest player, though, came as a bit of a surprise.

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

Practice Squad Player Faster Than De’Von Achane?

Achane turned heads in the Dolphins’ Week 4 loss to the Buffalo Bills when he was clocked at 20.6 miles per hour on a 55-yard run, the fastest time of any running back on the week and fifth-fastest across positions.

He was also previously clocked at 21.5 miles per hour in Miami’s Week 3 drubbing of the Denver Broncos, while Hill reached 22.07 miles per hour during the game. Raheem Mostert was also clocked at 21.62 miles per hour during the Dolphins’ Week 2 game against the New England Patriots.

Hill told media members Thursday, however, that he does not believe Achane or Mostert hold the title of second-fastest player on the team. Instead, he gave credit to practice squad cornerback Ethan Bonner’s wheels.

“De’Von’s fast,” Hill said. “I would say he’s like the third-fastest on the team, though. We got another kid on the practice squad that’s pretty fast, Ethan Bonner. White kid fast, rolling. He ran 22 [miles per hour] in camp, had me like, ‘OK, this dude. Might not call him out in a race.'”

    Ethan Bonner’s History of Speed

Bonner, who signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford, showcased his speed during the Cardinal’s Pro Day back in March.

The then-fifth-year senior at Stanford was reportedly clocked at 4.39 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the pro day, the fastest time of any Cardinal player at the event.

Bonner had 59 total tackles (42 solo), five pass breakups, and four tackles for a loss during his time at Stanford. He was a standout football player at The Woodlands High School in Texas, where he also led the school’s boys track and field team to the 2017 Class 6A State Championship and helped set a 6A state record in the 4×200-meter relay.
