Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has played alongside two phenomenal quarterbacks during his NFL career in Patrick Mahomes and Tua Tagovailoa. How does he compare the two?
Tyreek Hill: ‘…This Year, I Would Say Tua [Tagovailoa]’s the Better Quarterback’
When asked how wide the gap between his current quarterback Tagovailoa and former quarterback Mahomes is, Hill said the two are about even.
“They’re neck and neck. Those guys are neck and neck,” Hill said. “Tua is, obviously, my boy Tua didn’t have the start to his career the way he wanted, but he’s slowly changing people’s minds right now as we speak. At this rate, going up to this year, I would say Tua’s the better quarterback. But if we go over the course of careers, obviously Pat is different. This year, neck and neck.”

Hill has performed well under both quarterbacks. In his final season with the Chiefs, he brought in 111 receptions for 1,239 yards and nine touchdowns. In his first season with the Dolphins last year, he tallied 119 receptions for 1,710 yards and seven touchdowns, the best season of his NFL career.
He’s on track to have just as strong, if not better, of a performance this season as he already has 1,014 yards and eight touchdowns through eight weeks.
This season, Mahomes has completed 68.8% of his passes for 2,257 yards, 15 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Tagovailoa has completed 70.4% of his passes, surpassing Mahomes in both yards and touchdowns with 2,416 and 18 along with seven interceptions.
Throughout his career, Mahomes has led the Chiefs to two Super Bowls and been named the NFL MVP twice. He undoubtedly has been one of the most consistent and talented players in the league throughout his career.
Saying the two are “neck and neck” this season is an understandable take, but career-wise, it is surprising to hear Hill say the two are so close. Tagovailoa is a very talented QB who has seen a lot of success so far in his career, but Mahomes has outshined him in several aspects and has more experience.
Mahomes and Tagovailoa will face off in a highly anticipated matchup this Sunday in Frankfurt, Germany.
