Tyreek Hill Injury Update: Wrist Injury Still a Concern for Miami Dolphins Star

    Published on

The Miami Dolphins' Tyreek Hill continues to deal with a lingering wrist injury. What are his chances of playing in the Week 11 matchup against the Raiders?

Feels like it’ll be another week of wait-and-see for the Miami Dolphins with Tyreek Hill and his injury.

While the Dolphins did not practice Wednesday ahead of their Week 11 game against the Las Vegas Raiders, they still had to submit a simulated injury report.

What it said: Had they practiced Wednesday, Hill would not have participated.

    What Is Tyreek Hill’s Injury?

Hill is still dealing with the wrist injury that made him a game-time decision for Week 10’s win against the Los Angeles Rams.

Hill ultimately played — catching his first touchdown since Week 1 — but he made it clear in comments with reporters that this is something that could bother him for the rest of the season.

Hill told ESPN pregame Monday that his left wrist has been an issue since training camp, but it got worse when Miami-Dade cops cuffed him during a traffic stop outside of Hard Rock Stadium just hours prior to the season opener.

Hill is dealing with a torn ligament in that wrist. His agent Drew Rosenhaus declined comment Sunday when asked by WSVN-7 in Miami if surgery is in Hill’s future.

“He’s a warrior,” Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said postgame. “He’s a captain of this team and as good as it gets in this league that’s full of star players. It didn’t necessarily surprise his teammates, I don’t think, based upon his relationship with them and what he means to the team.

“You don’t know how a person’s body is going to respond, but all things equal Tyreek Hill wills himself to do things that most competitors can’t match. That’s one of the reasons that he’s great.”

Is Tyreek Hill Playing in Week 11?

It’s far too early in the week to make any sort of definitive declarations about Hill’s status for the Raiders game. But given the fact that he played through the injury Monday, there’s reason to believe that he’ll give it a go it this coming Sunday, barring it getting significantly worse.

Hill is determined to help the Dolphins salvage their season. But if at some point it becomes clear that their playoff chances are shot, don’t be surprised if he elects for season-ending surgery.

Hill was one of six Dolphins players who would not have participated in practice Wednesday, had the Dolphins held one.

The others: OT Terron Armstead (knee/rest), DT Calais Campbell (rest), CB Kendall Fuller (who has already been ruled out for Week 11 with a concussion), G Rob Hunt (knee), and S Jordan Poyer (calf).

The Dolphins also made the surprising move of cutting captain David Long Jr. midseason. Long had lost his starting job due to injury and ineffective play. Miami felt comfortable moving on after finding his replacement in linebacker Tyrel Dodson, whom the Dolphins claimed off waivers this week.

How Might Tyreek Hill’s Absence Impact the Miami Dolphins if Ruled Out?

The Dolphins had been a heavy two-back team this season, but that changed Monday with Alec Ingold out.

Malik Washington and Odell Beckham both had healthy roles, which would grow even more if Hill cannot play. Also expect more playing time for River Cracraft, who saw just four offensive snaps in his first game off of injured reserve.
