What Happened to Tyreek Hill? Latest Injury Update for Dolphins WR

    Published on

Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill has been the definition of a WR1 this season, producing 1,600+ yards in 14 games. However, injuries have been a concern.

The Miami Dolphins are the No. 1 team in yards (411.5) and points (30.9) per game this season. A big reason for their success? WR Tyreek Hill. He’s produced 1,600+ yards in just 14 games, but the injury bug has nipped at his heels multiple times, and in Week 17, it struck again.

Update 2:27 ET: Hill has returned to the field.

    Tyreek Hill Injury Update

On a 3rd-and-10 target from QB Tua Tagovailoa late in the second quarter, Hill couldn’t come down with a reception and was in obvious pain on the sideline. He didn’t head into the blue medical tent, but he was not on the field for the Dolphins’ following offensive possession.

Hill appeared to land hard on his left ankle, the same one he suffered a high ankle sprain on Monday Night Football in Week 14, which caused him to miss Week 15. In that MNF contest, he also didn’t head to the blue medical tent.

Hill had three catches for 53 yards prior to the injury, plus a bobbled touchdown in the first quarter. He will push to rejoin the field, but his effectiveness may be hampered. Losing Hill against the 12-3 Baltimore Ravens is less than ideal, to say the least, as the Dolphins still have a chance to earn the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

The Dolphins are already down Jaylen Waddle and Raheem Mostert, so much of the weight will fall on the shoulders of HC Mike McDaniel’s play-calling and Tua’s ability to spread the ball around. Cedrick Wilson, Braxton Berrios, and Robbie Chosen are the team’s top WRs left.

    Fantasy Fallout From Hill’s Injury

The engine of the Dolphins’ high-powered offense got shaken up late in the first half of their matchup against the Ravens.

The Dolphins are already without Waddle and Mostert in this game, which means Hill’s injury would see an expanded role for De’Von Achane and Wilson against the Ravens. This would also hurt the fantasy outlook of Tagovailoa for the remainder of the game.
