Last week, a fire broke out at Miami Dolphins superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill’s home in the Miami suburb of Southwest Ranches, Florida, reportedly causing more than $2 million in damage.

According to TMZ Sports, an incident report states that the house Hill purchased for $6.9 million in 2022 had an estimated value of $5.6 million before the fire. After the fire, it has gone down an estimated $2.3 million in value, plus about $1 million in belongings are believed to have also been destroyed in the blaze.
The 9,300-square-foot property includes two guest houses, seven total bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a home theater, a large basketball court and putting green, as well as a large indoor pool, according to the local station.
Hill left practice early last week and returned home after being informed of the fire.
His return to the team facilities was caught on camera by HBO’s Hard Knocks series, which is following the team this season.
“It’s done. The house done, bro,” Hill told his Dolphins teammates. “Smoke damage, fire damage. The whole upstairs is burnt down. It’s alright, though.”
There were no injuries as a result of the fire, and Hill was able to play in Sunday night’s loss to the Buffalo Bills, making seven catches for 82 yards and a touchdown.
“My wife’s good. Mom is good. And my nephews are good. So that’s all that matters, man,” Hill told reporters.

The incident report stated that the fire was caused by two children who were playing with a lighter inside the home. The children told authorities they thought the lighter was a toy, which they used to accidentally light an actual toy on fire before throwing it and running away.
In the incident report, it was determined that the child primarily responsible for starting the fire is just four years old.

“There are crazier things in the world going on,” Hill said. “I’m not the only person in the world having a bad day. There are other people having bad days, you know. God has blessed me with great things, and I have a great support system with teammates and family and stuff like that, and I just always try to look at the positive side of things.”
Hill has arguably excelled as the league’s top wide receiver this season, leading in receiving yards (1,799), touchdowns (13), and yards per touch (14.5). He said he won’t let the fire set him back.
“Right now, man, it’s just a transition … I mean, but that’s what players do. Like we find a way to bounce back,” Hill said. “And that’s what life is — ups and downs, you have things happen, and you got to find a way to like adjust to adversity. So we just had like a slight adversity, and we’re gonna find a way to face it. And that’s what we’re doing now.”
Hill said he doesn’t know when he’ll be back at the house, but in the meantime, he and his family are staying and enjoying their time on the beach.
“Although it sucks to see, you know, rooms you know destroyed and everything that you work for destroyed, it sucks, but my main thing was health,” Hill said. “Making sure that my kids are alright, and yeah, man this gives me and my wife a chance to get closer.”
