While the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers share the same state, they are two teams heading in different directions in 2024. The same goes for each team’s dynamic wide receivers, as their fantasy football value has shifted in PFN’s Consensus Week 5 rankings.
Miami’s Tyreek Hill has fallen to WR23, while Tampa Bay’s Chris Godwin is WR15. Which wide receiver should fantasy football managers start in Week 5?
Should You Start Tyreek Hill or Chris Godwin in Week 5?
Hill’s Fantasy Outlook This Week
After a scorching hot start in Week 1 with seven receptions for 130 yards and one touchdown, Hill’s production has fallen off a cliff. Hill has struggled since Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in Week 2.
Hill scored a whopping 26.0 points in Week 1 in full-PPR scoring leagues. Over the next three games, Hill scored a total of 21.8 points. As the Dolphins continue to shuffle starting quarterbacks, it’s hard to feel encouraged about Hill’s potential in Miami.
After Skylar Thompson struggled to replace Tagovailoa in Weeks 2 and 3, the Dolphins turned to Tyler “Snoop” Huntley in Week 4. Both quarterbacks have struggled as Miami has scored 25 total points in three games without Tagovailoa.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel tried to utilize Hill as a ball carrier in Week 4, but the star wide receiver was still unable to get going. Hill gained 19 yards on three rushing attempts as Miami desperately tries to get him involved.
While Hill possesses game-breaking speed and is one play away from an impressive scoring day in fantasy football, it’s hard to rely on him right now. Until Tagovailoa returns for the Dolphins, it’s fair to look elsewhere at wide receiver in your fantasy football lineups.
The situation in Miami has become so poor that Hill was asked about potential trade rumors during his meeting with the media on Wednesday, according to PFN’s Adam Beasley.

Godwin’s Fantasy Outlook This Week
While Hill has struggled without Tagovailoa, Godwin is off to a scorching hot start in 2024. Godwin is currently the fifth-highest scoring wide receiver through the first four weeks of the regular season in full-PPR scoring fantasy football leagues.
Despite sharing the field with another star wide receiver in Mike Evans, Godwin has been a reliable target for Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield. Godwin has eclipsed 12.9 fantasy points or more in all four games this season.
Godwin leads the Buccaneers with 34 total targets in 2024, five more than Evans. He also leads Tampa Bay with 27 receptions, nine more than Evans.
Godwin is easily Mayfield’s most efficient high-volume target, as he has hauled in 79.4% of his targets, according to TruMedia. The next closest player on the Buccaneers with 20 or more targets is tight end Cade Otton, who has hauled in 66.7% of his targets.
Considering Godwin’s start to the regular season, he is a clear WR1 option heading into Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons. Godwin spearheads a potent passing attack and has earned the trust of Mayfield as his favorite target in 2024.
