Tyler Lockett is one of the NFL‘s most consistent wideouts, but the Seattle Seahawks pass catcher suffered an injury in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. What’s going on with Lockett, and how would the Seahawks replace Lockett if he’s out for an extended period of time?
Tyler Lockett Injury Update
Lockett was assessed by Seattle’s medical staff after staying down on the field following a third-quarter play. He subsequently went to the blue medical tent on the Seahawks’ sideline.
The Seahawks have since announced Lockett is being evaluated for a concussion.

Lockett had posted two receptions for 10 yards before departing Sunday’s game. The 30-year-old put up 84 receptions for 1,033 yards and nine touchdowns last season, his fourth consecutive campaign with at least 1,000 yards through the air.
With Lockett sidelined, the Seahawks will turn to veteran DK Metcalf and first-round rookie Jaxon-Smith Njigba as their primary receivers. Seattle also ran more “12” personnel — two tight-end sets — than any team in the league in 2022 and could continue to heavily deploy Noah Fant and Will Dissly.
Lockett wasn’t the only Seahawks contributor to go down on Sunday — starting tackles Charles Cross and Abe Lucas also suffered injuries.
Cross is questionable to return after suffering a toe injury. He was on the sideline in the third quarter, practicing pass sets and seemingly attempting to return to the game.
Lucas is also questionable after injuring his knee. He’s been seen walking on the sideline but didn’t have his helmet.
Seattle is currently deploying Stone Forsythe at left tackle and Jake Curhan at right tackle.
Fantasy Football Impact of Lockett’s Injury
If Lockett ends up missing any additional time due to this injury, DK Metcalf and talented rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba should see an expanded role in his absence.
Lockett has been a mainstay in the Seahawks passing attack over the past four seasons, topping the 1,000-yard receiving mark the last four seasons. However, the involvement of JSN could significantly impact the production of Lockett this season.
It was a very tough day for the entire Seattle offense on Sunday. In particular for quarterback Geno Smith, whose 112 yards passing was considerably lower than any game he played during his breakout season in 2022.
Smith and the Seahawks offense will look to bounce back in a big way in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions.
