Tyler Guyton is among a slew of enticing offensive tackles in the 2024 NFL Draft. Here are more details on the highly-regarded prospect.

Tyler Guyton is among a slew of offensive tackles who look poised to be selected early in the 2024 NFL Draft. Let’s take a look at everything to know about the highly-touted prospect.

    How Tall Is Tyler Guyton?

Guyton measured in at 6’7″ at the NFL Combine, on the larger side among this year’s offensive tackle prospects, but he’s not quite the largest, with a few others standing 6’8″. His wingspan also measured 82 1/4 inches with a 34 1/8-inch arm size and 10 1/4-inch hands.

    How Much Does Guyton Weigh?

Guyton weighed in at 322 pounds at the Combine, just under the 328-pound mark he was listed at in college. It’s just another aspect of an impressive frame that makes his ceiling tantalizing to NFL evaluators despite a limited level of experience at the college level.

    How Old Is Guyton?

Guyton is 22 years old and soon to be 23, having been born on June 11, 2001. He was born in Manor, Texas, just east of Austin, and attended Manor High School for all four years of his high school career, earning a three-star rating from 247Sports for his exploits at that level despite primarily playing on the defensive line.

What School Did Guyton Go To?

Guyton attended two different schools during his college career, starting at TCU before transferring to Oklahoma. He spent two seasons with the Horned Frogs before wrapping up his last two collegiate seasons with the Sooners, where he came into his own with more significant playing time.

    Revisiting Guyton’s College Career

At TCU, Guyton appeared in one game in 2020 before redshirting as a true freshman. He then played in eight games for the Horned Frogs in 2021, splitting time between offensive tackle and H-back with his lone start coming at the latter position. He also caught a touchdown pass in the season finale against Iowa State.

After transferring to Oklahoma ahead of the 2022 season, Guyton found himself in a more significant role that year with five starts and 10 appearances overall at offensive tackle. He allowed just two sacks and no quarterback hits across 191 pass-blocking plays that year, according to Pro Football Focus.

Guyton then played in 10 games and made nine starts at right tackle this past season, playing a career-high 663 snaps and allowing no sacks in 355 pass-blocking snaps, per PFF. He missed one game due to injury and opted out of the Alamo Bowl.

    Guyton’s Potential in the NFL

Guyton is one of a few offensive tackle prospects in this draft with eye-catching physical frames who are lacking in college experience; he is regarded similarly to fellow offensive tackles Amarius Mims and Troy Fautanu.

Pro Football Network draft analyst Ian Cummings has Guyton ranked as his No. 23 overall prospect on his big board, one slot behind Mims and one ahead of Fautanu. That also puts Guyton sixth among offensive tackles in a loaded class that could see quite a few of them selected in the first round.

Cummings said Guyton could be one of the steals of the 2024 NFL Draft with the right coaching, among other thoughts in his scouting report of the fascinating prospect.

“Guyton is one of the most upside-driven tackle prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft. … 2023 was his only season as a full-time starter for the Sooners at right tackle. In that season, he played well enough to earn honorable mention All-Big 12 honors, but there’s still a lot we don’t know about Guyton as an NFL-worthy lineman.

“In 2022, Guyton started just five of 10 games played. In 2021, he was a reserve lineman at TCU. And in 2020, he redshirted after joining the Horned Frogs as a three-star defensive tackle recruit.

“Guyton’s profile is full of projection, but that same projection is what enticed teams like TCU and Oklahoma.

“Looking back at Guyton’s HS tape, you can see him winning with spins, swims, dip-and-rips, and raw power at a towering 6’7″. Now, he’s using his athletic and physical gifts to stop opposing defensive linemen from doing the same.”
