Tyler Boyd Free Agency Predictions: Potential Landing Spots Include Steelers, Jets, and Patriots

Tyler Boyd has been a productive wide receiver since he was selected with the 55th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Boyd has played his entire career with the Bengals, where he has put together a solid eight years. During his time in Cincinnati, he had 513 catches, 6,000 yards, and 31 touchdowns. He has often been the No. 2 or No. 3 wide receiver option, but he has been able to be a problem for defenses in the slot.

He has at least 58 catches in every season he has played more than 10 games, and he could be a great third option for a team. Here’s a look at which NFL teams could be fits for Boyd.

Tyler Boyd Free Agency Landing Spots

Boyd should have a robust market as free agency rolls on, as teams from both conferences and even in the same division as the Bengals should be interested.

Boyd Could Stay in the AFC North (and Same City He Played Collegiately)

Boyd played his college career at Pittsburgh. In his three seasons there, he had 254 catches for 3,361 yards and 21 touchdowns. A return to the Steel City would make a lot of sense for a team that could use some receiver help.

The Steelers recently made a move as they traded one of their best wide receivers, Diontae Johnson, to the Panthers. That leaves George Pickens as the lone big threat at the WR position, and Boyd would come in and fit like a glove.

Another thing that makes Boyd very intriguing is we could be the perfect veteran receiver to help Pickens continue to mature. At times last year, Pickens showed his frustration on the field during the game. Boyd is a true experienced receiver who has seen many different things and would be a great mentor for Pickens.

The AFC North has had a ton of guys signing with other teams in the division, and this could be the case once again.

Boyd Could Team Up With Garrett Wilson To Give Aaron Rodgers Solid WR Duo

The Jets are entering the 2024 season with a ton of pressure. Year 1 of the Aaron Rodgers era in New York was an absolute disaster. Rodgers was hurt early in the first game of the season and missed the entire year with an Achilles injury.

It was a tough year for the team, as the team once again missed the playoffs. That makes this year crucial, and the Jets have to go all in as a Super Bowl contender.

Garrett Wilson is an extremely talented receiver who has put up an impressive 178 catches, 2,145 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns. He has done that solely as the lone receiving target at times. Adding Boyd would allow him to see some more one-on-one opportunities and also give Rodgers another veteran player he can trust.

Rodgers has shown throughout the years that he prefers to play with veteran receivers rather than young players, and Boyd would be a perfect complement.

Boyd Joins a New England Team Desperate for Receiver Talent

The Patriots have been linked with a lot of receivers but haven’t been able to sign one yet. They were right there in the running for Calvin Ridley. It was thought to be between the Patriots and Jaguars, but he signed with the Tennessee Titans on a four-year, $92 million deal.

While Boyd isn’t quite the receiver that Ridley is, Boyd would be a nice addition for a Patriots offense that needs multiple receivers.

The Patriots currently have the No. 3 pick, and they figure to be drafting a quarterback there. They could potentially draft Marvin Harrison Jr., who is considered one of the best receiving prospects in a long time.

Either way, having a veteran receiver like Boyd will be beneficial for either a rookie quarterback or a rookie receiver.
