Tyler Boyd Dynasty Profile: Fantasy Outlook, Value, Projections, and Rankings

With dynasty fantasy football managers in full swing, where does the dynasty value of Tyler Boyd stand, and where does he come in for our rankings?

As we close in toward the new season, the ever-changing NFL landscape has player fantasy values constantly on the move, with key events like free agency and the 2023 NFL Draft still to come. Whether you’re used to the dynasty platform or are still learning the rules, let’s dive into the latest dynasty fantasy football value of WR Tyler Boyd.

Tyler Boyd’s Dynasty Outlook and Value

The WR33 on the year, Boyd is a distant third in Cincinnati’s offense and has been since the team drafted Ja’Maar Chase. Boyd was third on the team with a 13.8% target share and 18.35% air-yard share while catching 58 of his 82 targets for 762 yards and five touchdowns.

It’s the third season in a row Boyd has regressed in targets, receptions, and yards. You have to go back to 2018 for the last time he recorded more than five touchdowns in a season.

Averaging 10.3 PPR points per game, Boyd was a WR2 or better in just 24% of his contests while finishing as a WR3 or worse in 75% of his weeks in 2022. That matches his rolling three-year average of 15% as a WR1, 17% as a WR2, and 68% as a WR3 or worse.

Boyd is one of those players that will likely never be more than a Flex option in dynasty. It would take a significant injury to either Chase or Tee Higgins for Boyd to move significantly up in value. He’s a boom-or-bust player that tends to bust more than any other result. That is reflected in his value and how fantasy managers view him as well.

    Tyler Boyd’s Fantasy Ranking

Boyd is currently my WR55 in dynasty PPR rankings. He’s one of those players who may finish slightly higher than his value, but you never know when those big games will come. They’re going to be few and far enough in between that he’ll likely be on your bench when it happens. Ideally, this is a situation I would let another fantasy manager deal with.

When it comes to Superflex rankings, Boyd is the No. 155 player overall due to quarterbacks receiving an increase in value due to positional scarcity. However, there is some upside for managers who roster Boyd.

2023 is the final year of his contract with the Bengals, and should he hit free agency, Boyd could land in a spot where he jumps from the No. 3 option in an offense to the No. 2 and, in the process, take a jump in target share and value.

Boyd flashed in the past when given a larger opportunity, specifically before Chase was drafted, and he was the WR2 for Cincinnati. Boyd can stretch the field, and if he can see five or more targets a game, a WR3 season is within his range of outcomes.
