Los Angeles Rams WR Tutu Atwell’s 2023 season told us two completely different stories. His strong start was equally paralleled by a whimpering finish, which makes his dynasty fantasy football value a little tricky to pinpoint at the moment.
Should his early production from last year be dismissed as an outlier, or should dynasty managers aim to acquire Atwell as a quality buy-low candidate ahead of the 2024 season?
Tutu Atwell’s Dynasty Outlook
The start of the 2023 season for Atwell appeared to signal a potential breakout year for the former Louisville product. He was the WR20 in PPR formats with 22 receptions for 270 yards and a score on 35 targets, which potentially signaled an expanded role in the Rams’ passing attack.

Unfortunately, once Cooper Kupp returned from injured reserve (IR), his role drastically diminished, catching just 17 passes for 213 yards on 32 targets the rest of the year.
Making matters worse, he lost his starting role to Demarcus Robinson to finish the season, which significantly hurts his dynasty value heading into his fourth year.
Atwell seemingly proved he could be a productive player in this offense and that he couldn’t be relied upon moving forward all in the same season. On paper, he posted career highs across the board in 2023, but it’s hard to imagine him having a meaningful fantasy role while Kupp and Puka Nacua are available heading into next season.

Should You Trade Atwell in Dynasty?

Atwell displayed big-play ability in 2023, but his reduced role as the season progressed when Kupp returned to the starting lineup casts a large cloud of doubt over Atwell’s long-term value in this offense.
Atwell will turn 25 years old entering the final year of his rookie contract, which makes 2024 a huge year for his future with the Rams.
One thing working in Atwell’s favor is the fact that Robinson will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, which could present an opportunity for Atwell to firmly establish himself as the third option in the pass-catching pecking order for the Rams.
This role could hold value, which was evident by Robinson’s PPR production from Weeks 13 to 17 as the WR12.
If I were looking to trade away Atwell at this time, I would do everything to sell his early 2023 production and Robinson’s strong finish to project a potentially fantasy-relevant role this upcoming year, but that may prove to be a tough sell.

If I can get an upcoming third-round rookie pick for Atwell at this time, I would strongly consider taking it.
