Tua Tagovailoa Injury Update: Latest News on Dolphins QB

    Published on

Tua Tagovailoa may have gotten banged up near the end of the Dolphins' Week 17 loss to the Ravens. Here's the latest on Miami's QB.

The Miami Dolphins were dominated by the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17, and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa may have gotten banged up near the end of Sunday’s defeat. What happened to Tua, and what’s his current injury status?

    Tua Tagovailoa Injury Update

Tagovailoa appeared to be injured after scrambling for nine yards on a 4th-and-13 from Miami’s own 23-yard line. While Tua spent time in the blue medical tent along the Dolphins’ sideline, he eventually emerged and returned to the bench alongside his teammates.

Miami announced Tagovailoa was questionable to return to Sunday’s game as he deals with a shoulder injury.

However, given that the Dolphins were trailing the Ravens by 23 points with roughly eight minutes remaining when Tua went down, there was no chance he’d return in Week 17.

Tagaovailoa completed 22 of 38 attempts for 237 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions before departing. Backup quarterback Mike White replaced Tua for the duration of Sunday’s loss and will start in Week 18 if Tagaovailoa cannot suit up.

Miami was eliminated from winning the AFC’s No. 1 seed by losing to Baltimore on Sunday.

The Dolphins are now 11-5, while the Buffalo Bills are 10-4 after defeating the New England Patriots. Week 18’s Miami-Buffalo clash will determine the AFC East title. If the Dolphins lose, they will fall to the No. 6 seed.

After Sunday’s loss, Tua suggested he should be ready for next week’s winner-take-all tilt.

“The shoulder’s good,” Tagovailoa said, per PFN’s Adam Beasley. “Just a little sore.”

    Fantasy Fallout From Tua’s Injury

Fantasy managers may have to monitor Tua’s health heading into the regular-season finale. If Tagovailoa misses any time moving forward, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle both move down a bit in the fantasy rankings with White under center.
