Trevor Siemian Salary: A Look at the Backup QB’s Cost in 2023

    Published on

How many teams has Trevor Siemian played for during his career? When did he join the Jets, and how much does he make?

Trevor Siemian is starting at quarterback for the New York Jets against the Washington Commanders on Sunday. He will be the third player to start at quarterback for the Jets after Aaron Rodgers went down in Week 1. Siemian started one game in 2019 for New York when Sam Darnold was out. He only had six pass attempts in the game, suffering a broken ankle.

Siemian started 2023 as a member of the Chicago Bears but was cut in March after just one of the two seasons he signed for. He joined the Cincinnati Bengals in May but was cut in late August before the regular season started. Siemian signed with the Jets at the end of September but had to wait until December to get into a game.

How Much Are the Jets Paying Trevor Siemian?

In September, New York signed Siemian to a one-year contract worth $1,165,000 that carries a cap hit of over $365,000. His signing bonuses from other deals for this season with the Bears and Bengals total over $650,000.

The Denver Broncos selected Siemian out of Northwestern in the seventh round of the 2015 draft. He signed a four-year contract worth just over $2 million. After his contract expired, Siemian signed a one-year deal with the Jets for the 2019 season worth $2 million.

During the 2020 season, he made over $350,000 with the Tennessee Titans and New Orleans Saints. He returned to the Saints on a one-year deal worth $990,000 in 2021.

The Bears signed Siemian to a two-year deal for $4 million in 2022, but he was released after a year to save cap space. The Bengals signed him for a one-year deal worth just over a million dollars.

Siemian, 31, has made over $9.9 million over his nine-year career and is a free agent again after this season.

    Where Has Siemian Played?

Most of Siemian’s NFL playing time was when he was with the Broncos for three seasons from 2015 to 2017. He beat out Mark Sanchez and Paxton Lynch to earn the right to be the quarterback to replace Peyton Manning, who retired after the 2015 season. Siemian, who was 13-11 as a starter, completed 59.3% of his passes for 5,686 yards with 30 touchdowns and 24 interceptions in 26 games with Denver.

After multiple shoulder injuries, Siemian was traded to the Minnesota Vikings for a late-round draft pick after the 2018 season. He never played in a game with the Vikings and signed with the Jets for 2019.

Siemian never played for the Titans but started four games with the Saints in 2021 and one with the Bears last year.
