Travis Kelce Retirement Rumors: Chiefs Tight End Makes Plans Clear

Travis Kelce is one of the most famous sports stars in the world, and he addressed potential retirement rumors earlier in the week.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce is one of the most popular sports stars in America. 2023 has taken his exposure to another level, and the standout pass catcher is now known worldwide.

His newfound fame has led to questions being asked about a potential retirement, and Kelce addressed the comments in a recent press conference, putting all the rumors to bed.

How Did Travis Kelce Respond to Retirement Rumors?

The Chiefs’ star tight end was asked about his future in a press conference on January 11. Responding to questions from the media, Kelce said, “I have no reason to stop playing football. I love it. I just love the challenge it gives me every single day to try and be at my best. Like I said, I have no desire to stop anytime soon.”

The questions were being asked with Kelce’s fame being at an all-time high. His relationship with music sensation Taylor Swift has made him one of the best-known players across the globe.

It also comes on the back of Kelce having success off the field. His podcast, New Heights, which he hosts alongside his brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, has become the No. 1 sports podcast in the country.

Endorsements from that venture have added to his net worth. Kelce has also hosted Saturday Night Live and is one of the biggest personalities in the sport.

With two Super Bowl victories already to his name, many questioned what Kelce has left to achieve in the football. He narrowly missed out on eight straight seasons of over 1,000 receiving yards in 2023, falling 16 short after not playing in Week 18. However, Kelce’s commitment is never in question.

“I’ve been fortunate to do a few things outside of the sports world, like getting on camera. The SNL stuff opened up a new happiness and maybe a new career path for me,” Kelce said, acknowledging his other career moves. “But I think [retirement is] so much further down the road than it is right now.”

Kelce’s comments come after his interview with the Wall Street Journal in November 2023, when he said he thinks about retirement “more than anyone could ever imagine.”
