Travis Kelce is set to play in his fifth Super Bowl this week. He will face the Philadelphia Eagles, the team for which his brother, Jason, played for 13 seasons. The Kelce brothers faced each other in the Super Bowl two years ago, and since then, their family has become one of the most famous sports families in the world.
The older Kelce brother retired from the NFL after last season but is still engaged in football-related activities while working for ESPN. Another matchup between the Kelce brothers on the Super Bowl stage would be terrific for the sport, and the Chiefs star recently talked about it.
Travis Kelce Wanted Another Super Bowl Matchup Against Jason Kelce
Travis Kelce spoke to the media ahead of the Super Bowl and expressed how he wanted to play against his brother again on the biggest stage.
“Of course, I wish Jason was out there,” the Chiefs tight end said. “Being at the mountaintop with your brother is something special that I’ll never forget. Obviously, it being so close to him retiring, I wish he would have played another year, but he’s very content with where he is in life right now and I’m happy for him.
“He gets to be around his family and his baby girls a little bit more. I’ll go out there and try to represent the family the best I can.”

Jason has played in two Super Bowls in his career, winning one in 2018 against the New England Patriots. The Eagles suffered a heartbreaking 38-35 loss against the Chiefs in Super Bowl 57, and the older Kelce brother played one more season after it before retiring.
Both the Kelce brothers are considered future Hall of Famers, but the Chiefs star has an opportunity to further solidify his legacy by winning the fourth Super Bowl of his career on Sunday. The Chiefs are currently favored by 1.5 points to win against the Eagles, and it will be fascinating to see which team will come out on top.
Kelce Has Always Performed Well in Super Bowls
The Chiefs’ tight end has a record of 3-1 in Super Bowls and has the stats to prove that he has been exceptional for his team in the most important game of the season. He has recorded a total of 31 catches for 350 yards and two touchdowns in four Super Bowl appearances, averaging 87.5 receiving yards per game and 11.3 yards per reception.
In the 2023 Super Bowl win against the Eagles, Kelce finished with six receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown. Since then, his production has regressed in the regular season, but he has continued to perform well in the postseason.
Since winning the Super Bowl against the Eagles, Kelce has recorded 41 catches for 491 yards and four touchdowns in six playoff games, averaging 81.8 receiving yards per game.
The 35-year-old tight end recently hinted that he is open to playing beyond this season. Kelce knows the importance of the upcoming matchup against the Eagles and will be determined to help the Chiefs become the first team in the NFL to win three straight Super Bowls.
