A True Romantic: Travis Kelce Shows His Love for Taylor Swift at Super Bowl Opening Night

Travis Kelce had a sincere reaction describing the run his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, has been on. He even shared an immediate reaction to her next album.

By now, Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce is emerging as a yearly regular during Super Bowl Opening Night.

Except this time, he has more watchful eyes than ever before on this stage because of his special guest: new soulmate Taylor Swift.

It’s not a joke to say the two-time Super Bowl winner Kelce has more scrutiny than ever.

Take a look at the number of reporters waiting for him during opening night’s media session at Allegiant Stadium.

While Kelce was already a household NFL name, he’s become renowned globally because of his romantic relationship with the country/pop singer Swift — who just recently won a record fourth Album of the Year title on Sunday’s Grammys. As expected, Kelce was bombarded with questions about his multiple Grammy-winning songstress.

On Kelce’s end, he’s opened a brand new world to Swift that she never previously experienced. In the process, she’s been sworn into Chiefs Kingdom as he told reporters.

“She’s brought a lot of new faves to the game, and it’s been fun to experience that. She’s a part of Chiefs Kingdom, and it’s been fun to see her enjoy the game of football knowing it’s been new to her life,” Kelce said. “I love having her at every single game.”

Meanwhile, he likely won over the “Swifties” on Night 1 of Super Bowl week with some of his other comments.

Kelce rewrote the playoff record books by shattering past marks once held by Jerry Rice.

But he knows his girlfriend is her own record-breaker.

“She’s unbelievable. She’s rewriting the history books,” Kelce told reporters inside Allegiant Stadium. “I told her I need to hold up my end of the bargain and bring home some hardware, too.”

Kelce is already envisioning adding his third ring on his fourth trip to the big game, but he admits this one comes with a new set of focus.

“I want this one more than I’ve ever wanted a Super Bowl before in my life,” Kelce told reporters. “It’s because of the type of a team we have and the type of people we have in this thing.”

There’s another reason: winning this one for the fans — Swift’s fans.

“I don’t know if I brought too much to the game. I think I just go out there and have fun. But Taylor has an unbelievable fan base that follows her, supports her life. It’s been fun to gather the Swifties into Chiefs Kingdom and opening them up to the football and sports world,” Kelce told reporters. “It’s been cool to experience all that.”

Along the way, Kelce and the Chiefs have gained fans in younger adolescent girls who had never previously paid attention to football. But with Swift’s appearances, that audience has grown and created new popularity for the league. Kelce sent this message to those younger fans.

“I hope you enjoy it,” Kelce told PFN’s CEO Matt Cannata. “I hope we’re putting a game out there that is enjoyable for you and that you can support and gather around.”

While he’s preparing for the San Francisco 49ers’ defense in his downtime, Kelce’s also spent his spare time earning rare access to this special treatment — listening to Swift’s upcoming album.

Swift herself revealed at the Grammys that she’ll be releasing “The Tortured Poets Department” on April 19, 2024. Kelce, however, gave an early teaser of what her fans and other listeners can expect.
