Colorado Buffaloe’s sensation Travis Hunter discussed the burglary hits on NFL icons Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce in October on his podcast, “The Travis Hunter Show.” While he’s enjoying finishing the regular season for Coach Prime’s team on a high and leading the Heisman Trophy race, Hunter had a mix of humor and serious advice for the Chiefs’ duo.
Travis Hunter Wants Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce To Beef Up Security
Upon discussing the security issue, Hunter first warned potential intruders: “Don’t come in my house. This ain’t what you want…” However, he quickly shifted to a more joking tone about the holiday season coming, which often leads to heightened criminal activity. “It’s Christmas time. They are trying to get their people stuff.”
Hunter, whose NIL valuation stands at $4.7 million (per On3), then offered practical advice to the high-profile athletes. “You know you’re high risk. You know different types of celebrity. What security measures I would do? Boy, I’ll have a guard standing at that door 24/7, every day. They got so much money. All they need is, all you need is security guards and they switch every couple hours.
“I’m saying, like, you get security companies and stuff. They have guards that stand in front of the door. Like just get one of those security companies.”
Mahomes’ Missouri estate, spanning over eight acres, was hit by burglars on Oct. 6. This followed a break-in at Kelce’s Kansas home less than 48 hours later, as reported by TMZ. Mahomes called the incident “frustrating” but declined to share details.
“It’s disappointing, but I mean, I can’t get into too many of the details because the investigation’s still ongoing, but obviously something that you don’t want to happen to really anybody but obviously yourself,” Mahomes said at the time.
“I can’t speak too much about the details of everything just with the investigation going on, but I’m sure at some point that will be talked about,” he continued.
Kelce, whose home was robbed of $21,000 ($20,000 in cash). Both players were targeted ahead of the Chiefs’ 26-13 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Oct. 7. Luckily, no one was injured, but the incidents showed the vulnerability of even the NFL’s biggest names.
