Colorado Buffaloes dual threat wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter responded in a respectful manner when asked about head coach Deion Sanders. Earlier in the week, Hunter was asked to give his opinion on potentially being selected higher than Coach Prime was in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
Sanders was selected No. 5 overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 1989 NFL Draft. At this time, it appears as though Hunter will be a top five as well, with some analysts and mock drafts having Hunter anywhere between No. 1 and No. 3 overall.

What Did Travis Hunter Say About Deion Sanders?
The popular Buffaloes fan account ‘@SkoBuffsGoBuffs’ released the clip of the video on their X (Formerly known as Twitter) profile, credited CBS Sports, and provided their own commentary of the situation.
“Perfect answer from Travis Hunter after being asked if he gets picked higher than Coach Prime will he text him bragging: ‘Nah…That’s just the pick, I still got to put in the work’ 🎥: @CBSSports,” the post was captioned.

Though Hunter has the chance of being picked higher than Coach Prime was, it will be difficult for him to surpass the legendary level Sanders achieved in the National Football League. Sanders is widely considered one of the greatest defensive and most versatile players in NFL history.
Will Travis Hunter Be Selected Higher Than Coach Prime Was?
In Pro Football and Sports Network’s latest 7-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Hunter was selected No. 3 overall by the New York Giants. If this became reality, Hunter would be picked above the position Sanders was selected in his respective draft.
“The New York Giants are one out of a couple of landing spots where Travis Hunter may be able to play both ways. The Giants need playmakers on both sides of the ball, and Hunter would provide that option. He will most likely be a full-time defensive player and then see some offensive snaps in certain situations.
The athleticism and versatility that Hunter offers are tantalizing. He is so good with the ball in his hands — it will be tempting to play him as much as possible. Any team drafting him will need to be smart because playing 1,500 snaps is close to impossible in the modern NFL. As a rookie, Hunter could also be a valuable special-teams option, playing on defense and then have a couple of packages a game on offense.”
