Travis Hunter Claps Back at Critics With His Stern Message

Top NFL Draft prospect Hunter made no mistake while calling out critics who raised concerns over the feasibility of his dual-threat skills. At the NFL level, no one has done it, but Hunter remains optimistic to set a new benchmark.

While speaking through an ESPN feature, per Mark Schlabach, Hunter is quite clear about his future in the league: “I’m super confident, and I believe that I can do it at the next level,” Hunter said. “I’m not going to let anyone tell me that I can’t do something that I already done. They said I couldn’t do it in college, and I ended up doing it in college.

“A lot of people tell me I can’t do it in the NFL, but I’m going to still do it in the NFL. You know, a lot of people just let other people get in their ear, so they don’t let them do it, and some people don’t have the body type to be able to go both ways full time,” he added.

The 21-year-old star has recorded 1,152 yards on 92 receptions with 14 touchdowns. While on defense, he has racked up 688 snaps, four interceptions, and 11 breakups, cementing his name as a true two-way player.

Heisman-Hopeful Hunter Plans To Suit Up for Deion Sanders One Last Time

It is an emotional moment for Hunter, who is in New York for the Heisman ceremony after a successful season under legendary Coach Prime. While speaking to reporters before the grand ceremony, he spoke about his journey from choosing an HBCU with Sanders and following his path all the way to Colorado.

Hence, Hunter wants to end the journey on a high note. The Colorado Buffaloes will play in the Alamo Bowl, and the two-way star plans to suit up with his teammate Shedeur Sanders and Coach Prime for one last time.

“It’s definitely important because, you know, I started this thing with Coach Prime and Shedeur and most of the coaches on the coaching staff, so I want to finish it off right,” Hunter said, per ESPN.

In the latest mock draft from Pro Football Network’s Ryan Gosling, the Jacksonville Jaguars used their No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on Hunter. Teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Las Vegas Raiders, and New England Patriots could be in contention for the Colorado standout, but trading for him could turn out to be too expensive.
