‘My First Time Ever’ – Travis Hunter Reveals Hilarious Six Flags Story With Former Panther Cam Newton

Top draft prospect Travis Hunter recalled a hilarious story about when he previously met with former quarterback Cam Newton in Dallas.

Travis Hunter joined the stars and celebrities in New Orleans for the Super Bowl festivities, where most of the fun was had before kickoff. On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 to end the season and mark the 2025 NFL Draft as the next massive date on the calendar. Among those waiting for the big day will be Hunter, who’s hoping to parlay his Heisman win into a top-three selection.

He has also been hosting guests on his eponymous podcast, with the most recent one being former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.

Newton, who’s been a vocal supporter of the prospect since the two met through his C1N program. Before the championship, Hunter recalled a story about when he previously met with Newton in Dallas, during which the latter took him on an “impromptu” roller coaster ride at an amusement park.

“He took me to Six Flags, my first time ever, riding roller coasters,” Hunter said. “Craziest roller coaster boy, we went backwards. It was night time too. We got on the roller coaster thinking it’s gonna go forward. That thing took us backward.”

Hunter is a highly regarded prospect, with several teams at the top of the draft vying for his talent. Playing both ways for Colorado helped the program emerge from mediocrity with a 9-4 season and an appearance in the Alamo Bowl.

Newton continued to praise Hunter on the podcast.

“There are certain players that are good, and there are other players that make others around them good,” he said. “The difference between Travis and a lot of you other players is he didn’t need to tell you or remind you how good it was. He showed it, but everybody around him picked up their level of play.”

According to Pro Football Network’s latest mock draft by Owain Jones, Hunter is projected to be picked fourth overall by the New England Patriots.

“Hunter is a special athlete who could still play either cornerback or wide receiver in the NFL,” Jones wrote. “The two-way Colorado star projects best as a cornerback who could play offense on specialized plays. That would give the Patriots a special perimeter corner pairing alongside Christian Gonzalez.”

In 2024, Hunter accumulated 1,258 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns on 96 receptions. On defense, he found 11 pass deflections, 35 tackles, and four interceptions. He was the best player in the country and will soon be tasked with taking over the NFL, especially if his name is called first like Newton’s was in 2011.
