What Did Travis Hunter Say About His Shared Passion With Deion Sanders?

In the aforementioned video, Hunter explains how both men are talented fishers. However, he believes that he definitely has the edge over his coach.

“We are both great fishermen. Well, he’s not great. I’m great, he’s good,” Hunter stated.

Later in the video, Hunter explained how fishing has helped his mindset away from the football field.

“I just love being on the water; it’s peaceful. I started fishing when I was seven, so I took it all the way in. I just fish all the time,” he added.

Hunter’s 2024 College Football Season and Future

Hunter is in the midst of one of the most remarkable college campaigns of all time. He has posted elite statistical numbers on both the offensive and defensive sides of the football. This has led to Hunter being considered by many as the current Heisman Trophy favorite.

In addition, he is currently projected as one of the top selections in next season’s NFL Draft, including No. 1 overall in Pro Football Network’s Dalton Miller’s Top 100 Big Board.

“Travis Hunter is one of one. If we had allowed ourselves to split the player into a cornerback and wide receiver, he would have ranked first and 12th, respectively. He’s the top cornerback in the NFL Draft, and he’s the second-best receiver. His rare ball skills as a wide receiver translate to the other side of the ball, and he’s played with more physicality in 2024 than in 2023,” Miller detailed.

While it remains to be seen where Hunter is drafted or whether Sanders remains with the Buffaloes next season, it’s clear that both individuals have a strong off-the-field connection through fishing, in addition to the dynamic one they have on the field as well.
