Deion Sanders’ favorite on-field weapon, Travis Hunter, has become a subject of interest for the NFL world, which is keeping an outside eye on the Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver/cornerback. He is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but his shoulder injury, which he suffered in the Week 6 game of the 2024 college football season, had scouts and NFL teams on red alert.
All seems well in Boulder, Colo., now, as the 21-year-old two-way sensation took part in Colorado’s statement win in Week 8 against the Arizona Wildcats before deciding on returning to the dugout. As the Buffs host the Cincinnati Bearcats at Folsom Field in Week 9, the Heisman Trophy contender shared how the Colorado head coach helped him regain his fitness.
Travis Hunter Claims Deion Sanders Has Healing Powers
Everything has worked out for the better in the last two weeks for Hunter, whose sudden exit from the field during Colorado’s 34-7 victory against Arizona raised eyebrows. However, the star wide receiver has quickly returned to practice, and according to Hunter, it’s all thanks to Coach Prime.
In a comment on Deion Sanders Jr.’s YouTube channel “Well Off Forever,” Hunter can be heard telling the Colorado HC’s eldest son his secret to fitness.
“You know how I got healed so fast? You’ve seen that picture Coach Prime posted. How he touched me. He healed me, bro,” Colorado’s star said.

Apart from the Colorado HC, Hunter’s revealed the strategy behind him coming off the field last week. Speaking on “The Travis Hunter Show” today, the Buffs’ two-way phenom explained,
“We were up 28-7, defense was playing lights out. So I thought, if I want to get 100% healthy, I better sit out and be ready for next week.” [04:10]
The elder Deion expects Hunter on full throttle against the Bearcats for the weekend. Appearing on the “Colorado Football Coach Show” on Thursday, Deion said: “Travis is good. Travis is much better than last week. He should be able to contribute a lot more …”
Sanders just couldn’t help stressing Hunter’s importance to his offensive and defensive system.
“Just him on that side on offense, it pulls that safety over … it forces them to play something. Because you don’t want to leave him 1-on-1 … Then when he’s on the defensive side of the ball, the quarterback’s not going to do that. You’re not going to take that chance to see if he’s healthy.”
With 51 catches for 604 yards and six touchdowns, plus 19 tackles and two interceptions, Hunter remains a game-changing asset for the Buffaloes.
