‘I Let People Talk’ — Travis Hunter Breaks Silence on His 2025 NFL Combine Prep

Travis Hunter, who is expected to be a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, finally broke his silence on his prep for the 2025 NFL Combine.

Travis Hunter is arguably the most interesting prospect to watch ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. The NFL Scouting Combine will take place from Feb. 27 to March 2 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Heading into the event, much noise had been made about Hunter being listed as a corner instead of a wide receiver for the drills.

This raised many eyebrows, and a section of fans supported his decision, with experts making predictions about how his landing spot could be affected by him being a DB. But recently, Hunter clarified his role and mentioned that he would continue to be a two-way athlete and that he would participate in the drills for both positions.

Travis Hunter Opens Up About His 2025 NFL Combine Plans

Over the last couple of years, there has been a trend for top players to opt to skip the workouts at the NFL Combine as they have already showcased their skill sets at college for almost four years.

While his role remains a subject of contention, Hunter clarified that he has opted to do both WR and CB workouts at the event. However, he later opted out of the NFL Combine workouts entirely, adding further anticipation for the Colorado Pro Day.

“If they actually look at the list, I’m on receiver and I’m on DB,” Hunter said on his podcast.

When asked about his preparation and drills, Hunter mentioned, “Not really specifically a drill, making sure technique is right for real. Gotta make sure my technique stays level. I always get better with techniques, so definitely making sure my technique is good, getting through the drills, and making sure I stay in shape and get stronger.”

Hunter added, clarifying about the conversations, saying it was much ado about nothing. “I let people talk. I let them go. Let them think what they want.” Reports had circulated about Hunter being listed as only a cornerback on the NFL Combine invitees list. The NFL’s list currently labels the Colorado star at both positions, though it is unclear if it was updated or the initial reports were false.

NFL Combine president Jeff Foster mentioned that they will be willing to make provisions to accommodate Hunter since he is a two-way athlete and players are often arranged in groups position-wise for the workouts and interviews. He may choose to complete his physical and weightlifting sessions on Day 1 and other drills on the second day, per reports.
