Top QBs at the 2024 Senior Bowl: Bo Nix, Michael Pratt Take Center Stage

The 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl is upon us and brings an exciting group of draft prospects at quarterback for NFL teams to get their eyes on in Mobile.

The 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl is here and brings a talented group of prospects with it. As usual, the quarterbacks will draw plenty of attention. Are any of this year’s Senior Bowl quarterbacks destined for top NFL Draft picks and stardom?

    Senior Bowl QB Rankings

This year’s quarterback class brings a diverse group to Mobile, delivering plenty of intrigue. Here’s how those QBs stack up against one another at this stage of their prospective NFL Draft journey.

    1) Bo Nix, Oregon

As time has passed, it’s felt more and more like Bo Nix will be the first quarterback taken out of all of these quarterbacks. Teams love Nix’s “moxie” and ability to throw in rhythm to keep an offense moving.

After a 2023 that saw him set records for completion percentage, Nix will be tasked with running a bit more of a pro-style offense in Mobile. How he handles that will be something to monitor.

    2) Michael Pratt, Tulane

Perhaps the most underrated of this group, Michael Pratt has a chance to make a real name for himself at the Senior Bowl.

Toughness is the name of Pratt’s game. He’s accurate at all three levels of the field, has the arm to make all the throws needed, and is a great athlete in space. His leadership for the Tulane Green Wave has been second to none, as something NFL teams will love.

    3) Michael Penix Jr., Washington

I’m not sure Michael Penix Jr. will be a full participant in the Senior Bowl after an exhausting push for the national championship that saw him limping by the end. If he is, Mobile will be a fantastic opportunity to show off his ability as a vertical passer and how well he can work targets over the middle of the field.

    4) Spencer Rattler, South Carolina

I think it’s fair to say no quarterback could help themself more at the Senior Bowl than Spencer Rattler. A prospect with an incredible arm, Rattler has changed his game substantially from his days at Oklahoma, but scouts still want to see how he handles reading full fields.

Rattler’s arm will simply pop off the field in drills, however. A good showing in practice could launch him up draft boards, as could the interviews with NFL teams where he can allay fears about his character that blighted his college career.

    5) Carter Bradley, South Alabama

The local kid, the son of Gus Bradley, is an underrated passer. Carter Bradley has a pretty good arm, can fit passes into tight windows at different levels of the field, and is an accurate passer.

Bradley is a bit reckless still when firing passes into windows, but he’s at his best when he can work into a rhythm. With a good showing at the Senior Bowl, Bradley can put himself firmly into Day 3 consideration.

    6) Sam Hartman, Notre Dame

A fairly good athlete and accurate passer, former Wake Forest and Notre Dame QB Sam Hartman has several traits that NFL teams will covet for a backup role. How he’ll handle simulated pressure situations and placing throws downfield at the 2024 Senior Bowl will be a big storyline for his draft stock.

    7) Joe Milton, Tennessee

Joe Milton will undoubtedly have the best arm at the Senior Bowl. His throws will draw all the exclamations from scouts and several tweets about the RPMs he can generate as a passer.

Milton *has* to show the fundamentals to match his arm talent. He may get drafted off his arm alone, but an improved decision-making process and better accuracy in Mobile can help solidify his standing with NFL teams.
