It will be a year of turnover for the Wyoming Cowboys, as their top 10 returning players indicate. With several transfer portal moves, both out of the program and into it, the Pokes will look a whole lot different than in years past. Still, their 2022 college football roster is full of potential stars and emerging talents.

Top 10 returning players at Wyoming
As the countdown to the regular season continues, as does our top 10 returning players series. We’re counting down all the top 10 players returning to action on every team — we’ll deal with transfers later — from Air Force to Wyoming, from Miami to Hawaii, and all in between. Here are the top returning players to Wyoming.
10) Eric Abojei, G
Eric Abojei will anchor the middle of the Wyoming offensive line this season. With massive turnover at all but two positions on the line, Abojei can rely on his versatility to handle one of the guard spots this fall. He offers a great anchor and strong balance through all types of contact and moves well on both gap- and zone-rushing attempts.
9) Keonte Glinton, DB
The Pokes’ nickel back, Keonte Glinton had a quietly successful season in 2021, especially down the stretch. As the snaps continued to grow for Glinton, so did the production. He recorded his first collegiate interception against Colorado State and multiple plays on the ball over the final five games. Glinton utilizes his speed and ball skills well in coverage, blanketing bigger tight ends or shifter running backs from the slot with his movement ability.
8) Frank Crum, OT
A key cog returning to an offensive line that will have a ton of changeover in 2022, Frank Crum was a mainstay at right tackle last year. Crum is excellent on the move in the run game, coming across the formation or paving the way on the right all the same. He lacks nothing in pass protection but utilizing his athletic ability in the run game is where Crum shines.
7) Isaac White, S
The Wyoming defense saw an uptick in production when Isaac White returned to action as a full-time member of the defense in Week 9 and beyond. Despite playing starter snaps in just six contests a year ago, White finished with an interception, multiple pass breakups, and several plays at the line of scrimmage or behind it. As such, the strong safety position seems safely his as his all-around ability is unmatched in the secondary this season.
6) Treyton Welch, TE
All Treyton Welch does for the Wyoming offense is produce. Whether it’s chipping in as a dominant run blocker or safely securing first-down receptions, Welch is the man to go to. He’ll be a reliable threat over the middle of the field as more than just a checkdown target for his new quarterback in 2022. Welch also has plus skills in the run game and is no slouch when it comes to chipping in as a pass blocker.
5) Jordan Bertagnole, DT
One half of a dominant interior duo, Jodan Bertagnole is back in Laramie after a sound sophomore season. His ability to get after the passer is solid, but his run-stopping ability is among the best on the team and in the conference. His top performance — against Air Force’s rushing attack — is indicative of his ability to stymie the opponent’s rushing games up the middle.
4) Joshua Cobbs, WR
It’s only a matter of time before Joshua Cobbs begins to take over. A former dominant receiver among the Texas high school ranks, Cobbs’ background is extensive. With reliable quarterback play, he should blossom into one of the better all-around receivers. He has great after-the-catch ability and will dominate over shorter defensive backs due to his 6’4″ frame. Cobbs also has sure hands and top-notch catch-point skills.
3) Cole Godbout, DT
It’s rare for an interior defensive lineman to finish among the top tacklers on a defense, but that’s how talented Cole Godbout is. Whether he’s stuffing rushing lanes with his ability to two-gap or chasing backs down in pursuit, Godbout utilizes his athleticism and strength equally as well. His 70 total tackles were third on the team a season ago as he routinely stopped plays at the line of scrimmage or for a loss while leading the team with five sacks.
2) Titus Swen, RB
A sound rushing game is a quarterback’s best friend, and that’s what Titus Swen offers Andrew Peasley or Hank Gibbs in 2022. Swen returns after leading the team with seven rushing touchdowns a year ago, averaging just under 6.0 yards per carry despite sharing attempts with longtime Cowboy RB Xazavian Valladay. Now Swen’s turn to carry the load, he can rely on his ability to create in space and his receiving ability to aid the transition to a new quarterback in Laramie.
1) Easton Gibbs, LB
Second on the team to only third-round NFL draft pick Chad Muma, Easton Gibbs returns to Laramie to lead the Cowboys’ defense this fall. With 90 total tackles last year, Gibbs’ ability to patrol sideline to sideline was apparent. He plays downhill with his head on a swivel, routinely making plays against both the run and in coverage. With a nose for the football and a ridiculous athletic pedigree, Gibbs is set to take Muma’s mantle as the top member of a resurgent Pokes defense.
