Julian Edelman’s Criteria for Patrick Mahomes To Overtake Tom Brady

Brady has cemented himself as the GOAT for many through his perseverance over his 23-season career. The former New England Patriots wide receiver was with Brady for 11 of those seasons during which they lifted the Lombardi Trophy thrice.

Edelman recently appeared on the “Dan Patrick Show” and outlined that for Mahomes to be considered a greater QB than Brady, he needs to continue performing as he has been but for several more years.

“He’s got to do it for a long time,” said Edelman. “He’s on pace. This is remarkable. If he does it three in a row in the salary cap era, you can’t say much. I’m as big of a Tom Brady guy there is. The only difference is the longevity.”

“Tom had three careers. He just so happened to only get two runs at those Super Bowl runs. Patrick’s been doing that his whole career. It will be interesting for me to see the next chapter of Patrick Mahomes when some adversity come along.

“He’s going to be playing way longer than Travis. When Chris Jones departs, he’s going to be there by himself. Will he be able to retool and find guys to help him go out and win? That’s what Tom had to do, and it took him 10 years to do that to get to the next one.”

Analyst Criticizes Mahomes for Playing Like an Old Man

Mahomes continues to climb the ladder of success; however, it has not been without controversy. On Jan. 28, during his eponymous show, sports personality Skip Bayless labeled the 29-year-old as a boring quarterback.

“This Mahomes has turned into the ultimate dink-and-dunk artist,” Bayless said. “Tell me I’m wrong. No NFL quarterback gets rid of the ball quicker than Patrick Mahomes.”

“Instead of high-rolling hundreds, trying to hit the casino jackpot the way he used to — especially in his first couple of years — this Mahomes just quietly and patiently plays the dollar slots.

“And it’s not like he’s 40 now and conceding to age. Nope. Patrick Mahomes is playing like a grandpa at the ripe old age of 29.”
