Tom Brady recently became an official minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. The seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback also serves as a color commentator for FOX Sports this year.
Brady signed a 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox after his first retirement from the NFL in 2022. He returned to play the following season only to retire again. After taking a one-year break from all football-related activities, the former New England Patriots quarterback started working for FOX.
Brady has covered seven games so far and recently revealed one major disappointment with the fixtures assigned to him.
Tom Brady Expresses Disappointment Over Covering Non-Competitive Games
In a recent segment on the “Let’s Go! podcast,” Brady mentioned that most of the games that he has covered so far have been blowouts, and the home field has failed to dominate.
“All these games I’ve gone into, I’ve done seven games now. I’ve had six blowouts, essentially, and the home team has only won one game,” Brady said. “I can’t wait until I get a home team [playing] in a close game, and there’s a lot of juice in the stadium.”
These are the games that the legendary quarterback has covered so far in his broadcasting career:
- Week 1: Cowboys at Browns: Dallas won 33-17
- Week 2: Saints at Cowboys: New Orleans won 44-19
- Week 3: Ravens at Cowboys: Baltimore won 28-25
- Week 4: Eagles at Buccaneers: Tampa Bay won 33-16
- Week 5: Cardinals at 49ers: Arizona won 24-23
- Week 6: Lions at Cowboys: Detroit won 47-19
- Week 7: Chiefs at 49ers: Kansas City won 28-18
As evident by the final scores, most were blowouts or losses for the home team. The game between the Ravens and the Cowboys finished 28-25, but the Ravens had a 28-6 lead at one point.
In Week 8, Brady will call the game between the Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks. The game will be played in Seattle and promises to be a nail-biter. Hopefully, the Fox sports broadcasters will enjoy covering the clash between Josh Allen and Geno Smith.
Brady Talks About New Football Gig
Brady is widely regarded as the greatest football player of all time. He played 23 seasons in the NFL and won more Super Bowls than any other franchise. Retiring was not an easy decision for him, but he seems to enjoy his new gig with Fox.
“It’s been really fun to sit and watch these games from the 50-yard line,” Brady said about his new gig. “Although I’d much prefer to be on the field playing, because it’s a lot more fun down there… But just watching from above and seeing how these guys are performing is pretty cool.”
Now that he is officially the Raiders’ owner, the door to a potential return to play is closed. He will continue to call games for Fox and help the Raiders get back to winning ways.
Brady will reportedly play a big role in the Raiders’ draft process next year. Many, including Kevin Durant, believe the franchise could draft Shedeur Sanders, as the team’s new minority owner has a good relationship with the Colorado quarterback.
