Tom Brady’s Advice for Jalen Hurts After QB Wins 1st Super Bowl

Brady hosted the “NFL on FOX” show on Super Bowl Sunday and named Hurts his LFG Player of the Game. The former quarterback congratulated the Super Bowl MVP for his impressive performance and advised him about how to save his jersey from getting stolen.

“It’s going to take a while to process it,” Brady told Hurts. “You’re going to wake up tomorrow morning and you’re going to feel so good.”

“What I want you to feel good about is to not let that jersey out of your sight. I had a few stolen over the years, so keep track of that. It’s going to be memorable down the road. I’m so happy for you.”

Hurts took home the Super Bowl MVP award, and deservedly so. He was responsible for three touchdowns (two passing and one rushing) and finished with 293 total yards (221 yards passing and 72 yards rushing).

Hurts’ 72 rush yards are a Super Bowl record for a QB, surpassing his own mark of 70 from two years ago. In fact, Hurts led both teams in rushing yards, joining Steve Young (Super Bowl XXIX vs. the San Diego Chargers) as the only quarterback to lead both teams in rushing yards in Super Bowl history.

He also became the fifth quarterback ever with multiple touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown in a Super Bowl, joining Ken Anderson (Super Bowl XVI), Pro Football Hall of Famers Brett Favre (Super Bowl XXXI) and Joe Montana (Super Bowl XIX), and Patrick Mahomes (Super Bowl LIV).

Hurts, who had 304 passing yards and 70 rushing yards in Super Bowl LVII, is the first quarterback ever with at least 200 passing yards and 50 rushing yards in multiple Super Bowls. He also became the third quarterback with a touchdown pass and a rushing touchdown in multiple Super Bowls, joining Pro Football Hall of Famers John Elway (Super Bowls XXI and XXXIII) and Montana (Super Bowls XVI and XIX).

Hurts’ 83.7 QB+ was the second-best in a playoff game in his career, behind Super Bowl 57 two years ago vs. the Chiefs (84.3). Overall, it was his fourth-best grade of the season.

Quarterbacks have now won the Super Bowl MVP award 34 times throughout NFL history, including in seven of the last nine Super Bowls.
