In a new documentary, Tom Brady gets into detail about his departure from New England. Did he want a divorce from Bill Belichick?

There was much debate about Tom Brady and the end of his New England Patriots career. Some thought that if it was up to Brady alone, he would’ve continued his career on with the Patriots without any other stops. However, Brady says not so fast in this newly released documentary.

Tom Brady Makes Shocking Admission in New Documentary

In a new documentary titled “The Dynasty,” Brady admits that he never would’ve returned to the Patriots, and the reason for it was head coach Bill Belichick.

“Me and Coach Belichick, we did what we loved and competed for 20 years together,” Brady said, as transcribed by The Athletic’s Chad Graff. “But I wasn’t going to sign another contract (in New England) even if I wanted to play until (I was) 50. Based on how things had gone, I wasn’t going to sign up for more of it.”

The idea that there was friction between the QB and the head coach was always bounced around, but oftentimes, the questions or the thought was deflected as rumor or uncreditable. This latest quote from Brady brings validation to those thoughts and provides an eye-opening revelation regarding him and his final days as a Patriot.

Brady finished out his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was successful in doing so, bringing his new team a championship during his short time there. Meanwhile, the Patriots have struggled mightily since Brady’s exit from the franchise and have since seen Belichick and the team parting ways.

No one knows just what would’ve happened in New England if Brady had stayed. Would Belichick still have his job? Would they have another title?

All questions Patriots fans have pondered over the last five years. However, ultimately, it all becomes futile as Brady admits that staying was never in his plans.

It’s a harsh ending to what was an amazing run between the two but was further evidence of the rumblings around the team, even while they were continuing to win games together.
