“I Think I am Ready for It” – Tom Brady’s First Phone Call as a Member of the Patriots Released, and It’s Surreal

    Published on

Take a look back in history to a time when Tom Brady was just drafted by the New England Patriots and meeting with the media for the first time in the NFL.

You can’t start off a conversation about Tom Brady without mentioning he’s the greatest of all time. Nobody at the quarterback position has ever had the run he had, and nobody for a long time will come close to the pedigree and résumé he built.

Before all that happened, as we all know, Brady was a sixth-round draft pick to the New England Patriots just looking to stick around and start a career in the NFL. With this newly released first conversation between Brady and the collective local media, you get to take a stroll down memory lane and have the benefit of retrospect as you listen to a young Brady talk about his hopes for the NFL.

When asked about his new team and new opportunity, Brady, without the benefit of knowing the future, let off the understatement of a lifetime, stating, “I think I’m ready for it.”

We can confirm that Brady was indeed ready for it, and the rest is history.

Brady would go on to win seven Super Bowls, five Super Bowl MVP awards, three league MVPs, three All-Pro selections, and be named to 15 Pro Bowls during his 23-year NFL career.

Brady built a legacy and a résumé that may never be matched in any sport — not just football — and will go down as one of the greatest athletes of all time.

What Is Tom Brady Doing Now?

Brady officially stepped away from the game as a player at the end of the 2022 season and has since moved on with his life and is delving into different business ventures. He’s preparing for his new 2024 broadcasting gig at Fox Sports and has become a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders since retiring.

In addition to his work within the game, Brady has also been continuing to focus on the apparel and wellness brands that he has built throughout his career.

Brady has had his hand in many things since stepping away, including acting, which has seen him have a role in the movie “80 for Brady” as well as various commercials as a promoter for other companies.

It’s clear that much like in his playing days, Brady is going to do whatever he puts his mind to at 100%. If it’s truly anything like his time in the NFL, he’ll end up as the GOAT at that as well.
