    T.J. Watt Injury Update

Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin said Watt suffered a finger injury during the Steelers’ victory over the Ravens, according to Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Watt reportedly exited the game to get his finger taped up before returning.

The injury did not seem to limit him down the stretch as he came up with a key fumble recovery after Alex Highsmith’s strip sack of Baltimore star quarterback Lamar Jackson late in the fourth quarter.

The Ravens got the ball back with 49 seconds left due to a Pittsburgh penalty, but Watt sacked Jackson on 4th-and-7 to ice the game. The star linebacker finished Sunday’s contest with two sacks, two pass breakups, and two quarterback hits, along with the fumble recovery.

It’s unclear at this time how severe Watt’s injury is or how much it could limit him going forward.

Watt remains an integral part of Pittsburgh’s defense this season with now eight sacks, 13 quarterback hits, four pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery through five games. If Watt misses time due to the finger injury, Nick Herbig would be expected to see an increased role.
