Former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson believes that his former team should draft Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter in the 2025 NFL Draft. While appearing on an interview with the popular news outlet TMZ, Johnson expressed that not choosing Hunter No. 1 overall would be a mistake by the organization.
The Titans recently secured the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after having a terrible 3-14 record this season. Though the Titans are in need of a quarterback due to the struggles of Will Levis and Mason Rudolph, it appears that some former players believe QB can wait, given Hunter’s elite talent and skills.
What Did Chris Johnson Say About Travis Hunter?
Johnson made clear that he believes the Titans should draft Hunter as the No. 1 overall pick next year — not doing so would be a major mistake by the franchise.

"I'm going Travis. I would love him to come in and play DB, and come in on some special packages on offense. I think we would be absolutely fools if we pass up on Travis"

“I want Travis. And we go in and see what Will Levis can do for us. Bring Travis on and you get your receiver or you get your DB. I would love for him to come in and play DB, and come in on certain special packages on offense to help the team out. But, I think we would be absolute fools if we pass up on Travis,” he stated.
Pro Football Network’s Travis Hunter, Tennessee Titans NFL Draft Projection
Despite the comments by Johnson, Pro Football Network’s latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft projects that the Titans will select Shedeur Sanders with the No. 1 overall pick, citing the desperate need the Titans have for a quarterback. In addition, in that same mock draft, Hunter was selected No. 3 overall by the New York Giants.
Regarding Hunter, “The 2024 Heisman Trophy winner was a dynamic presence on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball and has yet to declare a position for the NFL Draft, leaving the door open for him to play both ways as a pro.
As a receiver, Hunter has an exceptional feel for space, separation speed, smooth and efficient change of direction, elite body control, strong and natural hands, and always finds a way to come down with the football. He is a dynamic playmaker who always rises to the occasion. Hunter plays to win.
On the defensive side, Hunter is equally impressive. A physical and willing tackler, he showcases elite ball skills, sharp instincts, and quick, decisive break ability. Hunter has a knack for making plays regardless of his position. He plays to win.”
