‘He Seems Like a Really Good Kid’ – Titans Coach Approves Shedeur Sanders Amid No. 1 Overall Pick Rumors

The Titans' contingent came to North Texas to watch Shedeur Sanders ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft -- HC Brian Callahan shared his thoughts on him.

The Tennessee Titans were well-represented during Friday’s East-West Shrine Bowl practices on the campus of North Texas. Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward were present, and with the Titans holding the first overall pick, conversations between the Titans and the two signal-calling prospects naturally evolved.

Sanders led the Colorado Buffaloes to a 9-4 season while Ward led the Hurricanes to a 10-3 season.

Titans Coach Shared His Insights on Shedeur Sanders

Titans coach Brian Callahan, along with new general manager Mike Borgonzi and president of football operations Chad Brinker, were present at the facility to scout players participating in the upcoming postseason bowl game.

Callahan took a good look at Sanders and even had a 15-minute conversation with him. And when asked about what he thinks, Sanders left a good impression it seems.

“You can tell he’s been raised right,” Callahan said of Sanders. “He’s mature; he has a really poised way about him, and he seems like a really good kid. I enjoyed talking to him. And you could tell he’s a guy who has been in the spotlight. He knows how to handle himself; he’s been paid money, so he has a financial perspective. It was a really good first impression.”

Callahan had a good look at Sanders during practice as he also shared the scouting report on him.

“The thing that stands out the most is his toughness,” Callahan said of Sanders. “He took some pretty big shots and he kept rolling. He can stand in the pocket and deliver it. He can move and create a bit; he has some ability to move out of the pocket, and he does create on his own.

“He’s not a high-end dynamic scrambler necessarily, but he is productive when he does. And he really has a good feel for anticipation and timing; you can tell he’s been coached in that regard. Those things show up on tape.”

Callahan also had an equally impressive scouting report for Ward, so it’s not a foregone conclusion that the Titans go with Sanders.

There’s no doubt the Titans are in need of a franchise quarterback. Though they have Will Levis, whom they picked in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, his impact hasn’t been felt consistently. The franchise needs a turnaround after a rough season with Levis and veteran Mason Rudolph.

Drafting a quarterback is what’s expected of the franchise this year in April, but they’ll also have Travis Hunter as an option in case they want to give Levis another chance to prove himself.
