Tim Boyle College Stats: Ex-UConn QB Less Than Impressive Ahead of NFL Career

The New York Jets are starting Tim Boyle in Week 12. Boyle had some unique college stats at UConn and Eastern Kentucky -- what were they?

The New York Jets‘ playoff hopes are on the line, so they decided to make a change at quarterback. They are starting Tim Boyle after sending Zach Wilson to the bench.

After the Aaron Rodgers injury, the quarterback position has been a weak point for the team. Boyle, who has been in the league for five years, will get his first start since 2021.

Boyle had some pretty crazy college numbers — and not in the way you may think. What were his stats?

    Tim Boyle’s College Stats

Boyle was born and raised in Middlefield, Connecticut. He attended Xavier High School before he attended the University of Connecticut, spending three seasons with the Huskies.

Boyle only started 10 games over three seasons with UConn. He was benched weeks after becoming the first true freshman to start at quarterback for the Huskies in a decade. He would only spot start for the team after the benching.

His highlight performance for the Huskies came when he led the team to an upset victory over then-undefeated Houston in 2015. Overall, in his three seasons with UConn, he passed for 1,237 yards, one touchdown, and 13 interceptions.

He eventually transferred to Eastern Kentucky, where he started all 11 games as a redshirt senior and finished first in passing yards in the Ohio Valley Conference. He passed for 2,134 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 more interceptions. That gave him 3,371 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 26 interceptions in his collegiate career.

Ultimately, after five seasons in college, Boyle entered the 2018 NFL Draft. He went undrafted and signed with the Green Bay Packers, where he played for two seasons behind Rodgers. He has since spent one season each with the Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, and now New York Jets.

In his NFL career, he has passed for 607 yards, three touchdowns, and nine interceptions. His only three starts came with Detroit, where he went 0-3.

Now, he will get his fourth-ever start and first for the Jets. It will come against the Miami Dolphins in the NFL’s first-ever Black Friday game. This will be the first matchup between the two teams this season, with one more coming December 17.
