Well, Thursday Night Football returns tonight, just in time for us all to have finally gotten over the travesty that was Denver vs. Indianapolis from last week. Now, we get to cleanse our pallet with… oh. Sorry. Let’s look at who is playing tonight, what time the game starts, and how you can watch it.
Who Plays on Thursday Night Football Tonight?
Teams
Washington Commanders at Chicago Bears
Location
Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois
Thursday Night Football tonight will showcase the Washington Commanders and the Chicago Bears, two teams with a combined record of 3-7. After the Broncos and Colts 12-9 overtime spectacle we witnessed last week, fans of good football were hoping for a matchup that’s a little more exciting this time around. Alas, the NFL schedule makers have instead served us up some burnt filet mignon to follow last week’s undercooked entree.
The Bears are coming off one of their best games of the season even if it was a loss to the Minnesota Vikings. They moved the ball well in that one, and QB Justin Fields had one of the best games in the air of his career. But let’s not get too excited. Fields has still averaged just 135.8 yards passing per game, last in the NFL. In fact, this Bears offense has been so bad that they currently have fewer total offensive yards (1370) than Commanders QB Carson Wentz has passing yards (1390).

Chicago’s offensive struggles cannot all be put on Fields’ shoulders, though. They have easily the worst WR room in the nation, and the young QB has been sacked a total of 18 times. As mobile as he is, his offensive line is not doing him any favors at the moment. However, bad offensive line or not, Fields needs to hold onto the ball better. He currently has six fumbles on the season already.
On the Commanders’ side of the ball, things aren’t much better. The NFC East already feels pretty much out of reach with the three other teams in the division holding a combined 13-2 record on the season. There is clearly some tension between head coach Ron Rivera and Wentz, with Rivera throwing the Commanders QB under the bus this week in a shocking interview.
[bet-promo id=”160004″ ]Unfortunately for Al Michaels who was obviously bored during last week’s snoozer, the oddsmakers do not expect this one to be much better. The current total sits at a whopping 37.5. The Bears are slight favorites at home, laying less than a point. What does that mean? Well, either team can win, really. However, it’s interesting that the Bears are not laying more considering their home-field advantage. It’s not easy to play in the frigid October temperatures at Soldier Field.
PFN’s Betting Director BJ Rudell broke this game down in his early Week 6 picks and predictions.
“The 2-3 Bears could have been 4-1 just as easily as they could have been 0-5. This franchise is going in two divergent directions, often in the same game. The running game alone can lead this team to wins. The passing attack remains almost non-existent, though any improvements in this area could hand Chicago a strong edge over Washington.”
