3-Time NFL MVP Winners: Lamar Jackson Can Join Exclusive Club at 2025 NFL Honors

If Lamar Jackson secures the NFL MVP award, he’ll etch his name alongside legends like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

Lamar Jackson may be rewriting history books as the NFL world gears up for the 2025 NFL Honors. The Baltimore Ravens quarterback is chasing glory, being on the brink of joining an elite club, potentially becoming just the seventh player in NFL history to win three MVP awards.

However, the 28-year-old Florida native faces fierce competition from Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen, who presents a strong case. Nonetheless, Jackson’s dominance throughout the 2024 season makes him a prime candidate to take home the coveted trophy.

Lamar Jackson Will Read His Name Alongside the Likes of Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers

If Jackson secures the award, he’ll etch his name alongside legends like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Brett Favre as a three-time MVP. The last player to accomplish the feat was current New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers in 2020.

Jackson’s 2024 campaign had everything — advanced metrics from PFN’s QB+ ratings further highlight Jackson’s edge over Allen. Jackson led the league with a 99.8 QB+ rating in the regular season and an even better 99.9 when factoring in the playoffs. He also posted a 0.99 EPA per dropback from a clean pocket and excelled in high-pressure situations.

Meanwhile, Allen finished third in regular-season QB+ at 91.7 and second when factoring in playoffs at 93.2. While Allen had a strong Wild Card performance, he failed to deliver an A-grade game all season. The Ravens QB, on the other hand, had three A-graded games, proving his ability to take over contests.

Jackson’s numbers speak for themselves. He completed 66.7% of his passes for 4,172 yards and 41 touchdowns while throwing just four interceptions. He also added 915 rushing yards and four scores on the ground, making him the most electrifying dual-threat quarterback in the league.

By comparison, Allen posted 3,731 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, six interceptions, and 531 rushing yards. While Allen’s impact was undeniable, Jackson’s statistical edge and overall efficiency might give him the upper hand.

Winning three MVPs would be a monumental achievement, but for Jackson, there’s an elephant in the room — Super Bowl success. Every three-time MVP in the Super Bowl era has hoisted the Lombardi Trophy at least once, except Jackson. The narrative surrounding him has been about regular-season dominance but postseason shortcomings. A third MVP would only amplify the pressure to deliver a championship to Baltimore.
