Third Suspect Charged With Murder in Connection With Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Shooting

On Thursday, prosecutors charged a third suspect with murder in connection with the shooting at last month's Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade.

A third suspect has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting at last month’s Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade, prosecutors announced on Thursday.

Terry Young, 20, was charged with second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action, according to the Jackson County prosecutor’s office.

Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a 43-year-old DJ and radio host, was killed in the shooting.

Twenty-three people, including Lopez-Galvan, were shot. Police said the victims ranged in age from eight to 47, while at least half were under 16 years old.

“Everyone we’ve identified who discharged a firearm in response to the verbal altercation detailed here has been taken into custody,” Jackson County prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said in a statement.

Prosecutors said Young pulled out a gun and appeared to shoot several times after getting into an argument during the parade. Police identified Young by matching a distinctive backpack shown on his social media posts with a bag in surveillance video, while Young’s cell phone data indicated he was in the vicinity of the shooting.

Two men, Dominic Miller and Lyndell Mays, were charged in connection with the shooting on Feb. 20. Miller and Mays are facing the same three charges as Young.

Over 800 police officers were deployed in the area for the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade, which had an estimated crowd of one million participants.
