Not a whole lot went well for the Texas State Bobcats during the 2022 college football season. Finishing with a measly 4-8 record, the team only sees two potential NFL Draft prospects heading to the three-day event. Here are the scouting reports for both Kyle Hergel and Marcell Barbee.
Texas State 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Reports
Marcell Barbee, WR
Strengths: Quick, surehanded receiver who smoothly releases off the line of scrimmage, immediately gets to top speed, and displays eye/hand coordination. Comes back to the ball to make himself an available target, adjusts to the errant pass, and makes the reception away from his frame. Displays good route discipline, stays with the action, and works to make plays. Fights with his hands to separate from defenders.

Weaknesses: Lacks a deep burst and second gear. Missed four games with injury last season and had his production cut in half.
Overall: Barbee was a highly rated senior coming into the 2021 season, but he bypassed last year’s draft to return for a second senior campaign. It didn’t work out, and he now moves toward April as a likely undrafted free agent. He possesses the quickness and football ability to make a roster as a fifth receiver and punt returner if he’s fully healthy.
