The Houston Texans vs. Buffalo Bills contest in Week 4 might not be the best showcase of parity in the NFL. Here are the NFL odds and prediction for Sunday’s matchup, TV channel and live stream info, and how to listen to the AFC clash.
Houston Texans vs. Buffalo Bills prediction and odds | Week 4
Odds from DraftKings sportsbook.
- Spread: Bills -16
- Moneyline: Bills -1125, Texans +700
- Over/Under: 47 (Under -110, Over -110)
One team is contending for a Super Bowl, and the other is trying to find its footing in the messy world that is the NFL. It’s hard to pick your way through the NFL without finding two franchises in completely opposite states. While Buffalo is busy scoring more than 31 points a game, Houston is failing to keep opposing teams out of the end zone, giving up over 25 points a game.
Coming into 2021, everyone viewed the Texans as the worst team in the league. On paper, it made sense. And without Deshaun Watson, it was unclear if Houston would be able to string anything together on game days.
Most observers were right, although the Texans looked decent before Tyrod Taylor pulled his hamstring in Week 2. Unfortunately for Taylor, it’s now Davis Mills’ turn under center. A rookie from Stanford, Mills played admirably in Houston’s 24-9 defeat to the Carolina Panthers in Week 3. However, the deficit would have been much larger had Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey not gotten hurt early in the contest.
The Bills are clicking on both sides of the ball
On the other sideline, the Bills have been on a tear since their Week 1 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Coming out of the opener, Buffalo’s offense looked woefully unprepared to play a football game. Whether that slow start was due to Josh Allen sitting out the entire preseason is unclear, but the Bills’ offense is ticking now, putting up 35 and 43 points over the last two weeks.
Buffalo’s defense has looked stingy throughout the first three weeks. Now set to face a rookie quarterback making his second career start, the Bills should come away smelling like roses in Week 4.
One Bills defender to watch is edge rusher Gregory Rousseau, who has been one of the most impressive defensive rookies of the 2021 season. Over the past two weeks, the 30th overall pick has posted 9 tackles and 2 sacks.
Texans vs. Bills prediction
Any given Sunday, right? Wrong — not this Sunday. After facing the NFL’s top defense in the total yardage last week, Mills faces the fourth-best defense this week. Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott should have his team ready to roll at home in Week 4.
Prediction: Bills 30, Texans 16
