The Houston Texans won the AFC South and made the Divisional Round for the second straight year in 2024, but the team didn’t feel as exciting as the year before. Quarterback C.J. Stroud wasn’t as effective in his second year and injuries limited the offense’s firepower.
PFSN has released its 2025 NFL free agency predictions and expects the Texans to add another receiver to the mix this offseason.

Texans Predicted To Add Chris Godwin in Free Agency
Houston tried to bolster its receiving corps last offseason by trading for Stefon Diggs. The receiver came to the Texans with two years remaining on his contract, but the team restructured the deal to incentivize him to perform well.
Diggs was expected to fit nicely with Nico Collins and Tank Dell, but injuries limited the trio to just three games played together. Dell missed Week 4 with sore ribs, Collins injured his hamstring in Week 5, and Diggs tore his ACL in Week 8.
Stroud never saw the full potential of his weapons and was hung out to dry numerous times by his offensive line. The team benefited from a weak division, but Stroud regressed throwing for nearly 400 fewer yards, three fewer touchdowns, and seven more interceptions than in his rookie season.
PFSN has the Texans reloading at receiver in its latest free agency predictor with the team adding Chirs Godwin. The veteran has dealt with his own injury history, but Godwin has been one of the most consistent WR options in the NFL when healthy.
Over his eight-year career, Godwin has totaled 7,266 yards and 39 receiving touchdowns with his best season coming in 2019. He made the Pro Bowl that year hauling in 86 receptions, 1,333 yards, and nine touchdowns.
Godwin’s 2024 season was cut short by a serious injury in Week 7. He had to be carted off and needed surgery to repair a dislocated ankle. His stats last season were 50 receptions, 576 yards, and five touchdowns.
Godwin still has gas in the tank and should be targeted by teams needing offensive help. Houston should look to add the veteran receiver this offseason as they ranked 28th last year in PFSN’s Offense+ metric. They need offensive line help but could struggle to make multiple big splashes with limited cap space. It’s also generally easier to find players in the draft who can immediately impact the offensive line than at wide receiver.
Adding Godwin would give the Texans a slot receiver to complement Collins on the outside. They could still look to add an outside weapon in the draft, but a combination of Collins, Godwin, Dalton Schultz, and Joe Mixon would make this one of the best and most diverse skill-position groups in the entire NFL.
