Terron Armstead is back on the Miami Dolphins‘ active roster after a four-week stint on injured reserve and is on track to play in Sunday’s massive showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs in Frankfurt, Germany.
A question without an answer: How long his latest availability will last?
Armstead has been both the Dolphins’ best and most injury-prone offensive lineman the last two seasons.
The Dolphins are demonstrably better when he plays, as he almost certainly will on Sunday.
But he has unspeakably bad injury luck — not just during his time in Miami, but throughout his entire NFL career.
Miami Dolphins Get Terron Armstead Back
Armstead gets the green light after a strong week of practice. He was designated to return Wednesday, practicing this week for the first time since suffering a significant knee injury in Week 4.
Armstead, 32, has appeared in just 15 of a possible 25 regular-season games since signing a five-year, $75 million contract with the Dolphins in the spring of 2022.
The Dolphins have run 515 offensive snaps this season. Armstead has been on the field for 78 of them.
Still, the Dolphins were confident enough in Armstead’s recovery from his most recent injury that they brought him back from IR as early as league rules allow.
Armstead’s return to the starting lineup would presumably send Kendall Lamm back to the bench. Lamm has done an excellent job in two different fill-in stints.

Armstead isn’t the only Dolphins offensive lineman expected back in the starting line. All signs point to center Connor Williams returning soon.
Not all news is good on the offensive line, however. Right guard Robert Hunt (hamstring) has already been ruled out.
To make room for Armstead on the active roster, the Dolphins waived rookie defensive tackle Brandon Pili. Expect him back on the practice squad if he clears waivers.
In other Dolphins injury news, wide receiver River Cracraft (shoulder) has been ruled out of Sunday’s game.
